Friday insanity: "We are no longer going to be the band that plays old game tunes. We are going to be the band that plays old game tunes on game controllers!" [23Mb DivX, explanation]. Witness Commodore 64 revival band Press Play On Tape playing Cannon Fodder using a bunch of game console controllers. War has never been so much fun.

I was all ready to shake my fist at DIVX, which I refuse to bother with. But then I took a deep breath, and looked on YouTube. Of course YouTube has this video, all pre-DIVXed up, and I don't have to install anything. Thanks internet!

So okay, with that out of the way, I can now move on to pointing out the obligatory Monty Python reference, be all "Oh, snap!" at their jab at the XBox controller (it's funny because it's true, right nerds?), and wonder at the time some people have on their hands.

Then I can point out that this isn't as geeky in my geeky opinion as the Symphony for Dot Matrix Printers, previously on teh blue, don'tcha know.

What am I missing? Should I wonder if these guys get dates, or live in their mothers' basements?

Ye Gods, a YouTube link. I'd email the admins and ask them to edit the post, but apparently there are better things to be doing than nerding it up with the Jon Hare!

Okay, so the jam session was really pathetic, but hearing that awesome music again after 15 years or so gave me goosebumps. Thanks!

If you're laying down a bassline, it seems that a PS controller is not what you want to use.

One chord song.

Sort of interesting...

dammitjim, DivX is just an implementation of MPEG-4, so it can be played by any complient MPEG-4 decoder, like XviD or ffdshow. You don't need to install DivX, and I wouldn't, it's got adware.
