Long. Awkward. Poses. People secretly filmed while holding poses for photographs.

Very, very funny. I love the moment when they realise she's recording. Great post liam.

Went back to watch the rest and got down to Dad. I nearly bust a gut. Hilarious! I predict that this site will spawn a whole bunch of people videoing their friends posing for pictures.

Bwahaha. That first vid is awsome.

hilarious! thank you.

I have a subfolder of these myself but usually its because I'm drunk - and its usually me realising "fuck its on video"

That was awesome.

I actually felt surprisingly awkward watching, and found it difficult to keep the video playing because I felt like I was going to be embarrassed. What's that about?

Or: "How to lose your friends and alienate your family--the digital way!"

oh, this is good.

Perhaps someone with a video camera could follow this guy around.

That last link of mine is not necessarily safe for work. Apologies.

I didn't think this sounded like something that would be all that funny. It sort of is though. I imagine it would get old fast, but for now, I definitely chuckled.

*through the gritted teeth of a forced grin* "You... son of a bitch... take the fucking picture already!"

Brilliant.

This is (real) good.
Reminded me a bit of Steven Soderbergh's "mirror scene" in Schizopolis.

That's a good gag. I took 800 pics on my vacation and as it was a new camera there were definitely some of those awkward moments where the smile is long gone but they are still posing and waiting for the flash.

Try playing them all at the same time. It's an awkward pause symphony.

His dad called her a son of a bitch? That's just weird. But cool! I can't wait to try this on my friends.

I used to do this accidentally with my old camera all the time. It used a dial to switch modes and it would rotate when you put it away in a tight pocket.

Here's a video where I gave it to a friend to take my photo, and it was in movie mode.

This is the first time I've seen a link where everyone else thought it was great and I was actually underwhelmed. So, without further ado... meh.

Haven't you heard, fungible? Long awkward pauses are now an acceptable substitute for humor. Just watch a few episodes of The Family Guy.

Sarcasm is now an acceptable substitute for conversation.

Dad was hiLARious. Awesome stuff.

My mom had the same video-mode problem. She took an entire prom's worth of long awkward poses, interspersed with video of the ground.

I hope so. Maybe that will eventually make people less willing to pose for pictures. When I'm pretending to be a good photographer, I'd really prefer it if people didn't automatically try to strike a pose every time they see a camera.

This got old for me a third of the way through the first video.

This got old for me just reading the description, although I might find a pr0n version amusing.

Hahah... I just did this recently when I was at a concert with my girlfriend and her sister. I was recording some video, pointed the camera at them, and they posed as if I was going to take a picture. After about 10 seconds, they realized that I was recording video. Awwwwkward.
posted by antifuse at 1:51 AM on June 16, 2006

I get called on it when this happens and I'm taking the picture.
that, or my subjects get irate and leave the frame.

but people who really like to have their picture taken, to the point of just sitting posed for a long time, this is a price paid for such fabulous photos of oneself.

A couple of those are pretty funny. I imagine it'll be worth a revisit when there are a lot more submissions and a few classics have emerged.
