Cut In Half Yes we have all seen dudes cut in half, but this was rather well done. Could some smart mefite please explain how this is possible.

If I had to guess, I'd say that he was really cut in half and put back together with magic.

So what did the audience see when they looked where the ragged red hole full of spilling-out guts should be? It just looked black to me, though that doesn't get me much further to explaining how it was done.

I would guess, in part, that the in-studio audience is fake (a common trick). All the edits gave the magician an opportunity to rearrange himself in such a way that the trick could be done, but, because of the diting and the audience complicity, it seems seamless. The camera stopped at some point, they set up the gag, and then started rolling the cameras again, so it seems like he just hopped up there, strapped himself in, and got cut in half.

By the way that was, like, totally scary.

Astro-- what i don't get is if they're going to do all that, why not just do the whole thing CGI?

If the whole audience is in on it, that's not magic, that's special effects.
