Syd Barrett has pased. The cofounder of Pink Floyd who "reached for the secret too soon" died from complications related to his diabetes on Friday.

Wow... slow to the ball, guys. I'm sitting in a dingy internet "cafe" in some tiny muddy mountain village outside of Tianjin, China and I break the news Syd Barrett has passed?
Good Pink Floyd overview, and Syd bio at All Music Guide.

perhaps the tag search function should be changed to be a bit more practical in the future... so when one types in "Syd"... you know, the link pops up. I don't get the idea of clustering quoted tags. This would stop a lot of doubles.

I did my search. I wasn't aware that Yahoo didn't organize threads in chronological order and would rank his recent death below an interview last year and a review from several months ago. Of course, I must be an idiot. And smoking opium... because I'm in China. And dropping acid... because I know who Syd Barrett is.

Ah, there's the problem: Syd Barrett *had* Periodic Algebraic Separation Energy Demodulation, or at least he thought he did.
Then he died.

Yeah... there's no apology here. And searching for "Syd" on the home page yields the story. And chiming in with your first comment chiding us all for being so slow on this story (a full 8 comments into a page full of comments pointing out the dupe) is just asking to be mocked a little, Trin. As someone who is no stranger to dupes, I know when to bow out gracefully. Now go fetch my laundry & get back to building my railroad.

Syd was an interesting guy. This is about what he deserved. Kudos. I think he died a week or so ago, though.

Barrett paired with bandmates David Gilmour and Roger Waters in 1965 but left the band after just three years following a battle with drugs.
Really? I'm not a huge fan, but I kinda though Barrett passed as Gilmour came in. True?
According to Roger Waters, Barrett came into what was to be their last practice session with a new song he had dubbed "Have You Got It, Yet?" The song seemed simple enough when he first presented it to his bandmates, but it soon became impossibly difficult to learn: as they were practicing it, Barrett kept changing the arrangement. He would then play it again, with the arbitrary changes, and sing "Have you got it yet?" After more than an hour of trying to "get it," they realized they never would.
So far ahead of those guys ... have you got it yet?
