Nicely designed site and all, but the stories themselves aren't all that great. There were better things on Usenet back in the day.

Yeah, found the stories kind of... meh.

I don't think you're allowed to do Usenet on the Web unless you do it badly.

Oh Christ, the poetry is profoundly bad:
She squeezed her hearts content
As I begun pinching her mountain crest
And so is the prose:
Oh, my readers, how I wish I could have had a mic hooked up just to record it for you, because the accoustics in our kitchen are quite lovely (as I’m sure our neighbors have noticed) but there was no time for that.
I wonder if this is, in fact, parody erotica.

i dunno about parody. but when you open up the site to contributions, you are opening up the site to shitty writing.

...not to mention i think i found a mildly pedophiliac story there. not a fan of the site.

Other people's sex lives, stories and fantasies are pretty damn uninteresting. I wish "they" would stop trying to wow me.

Much better stuff (along with plenty of crap) at alt.sex.stories.moderated.

Why's it want me to save a file to my computer before I can see the site? (On the stupid library's computers).

I think we should get every single member of MeFi to submit a story that starts with "One time, at band camp...."

you guys expect today's myspace crowd to know what the heck Usenet is? ;) If it's not on the clickyclicky world wide web, it can't possible be any good!

drstein: even worse, I know someone who claimed a domain name was "unused" because whoever owned it didn't have a web page up.

mrbill writes "I know someone who claimed a domain name was 'unused' because whoever owned it didn't have a web page up."

This happens around here everytime there is a discussion about domain squatting.

drstein: But it is on the web, it's even on Google! What more do you want?

Cos, you know, it's not like I don't have a business based on filtering, organizing and archiving chunks of Usenet...

Glad I didn't, er, pump up the site before I posted it. Agreed that the stories are crap, but I like the design and the idea and some of the pictures are quite interesting and refreshing given all the crap out there.

Dear Penthhouse...I know this sounds crazy, but it's all true I swear!

And now, MeFi is three clicks away from "ever seen someone banging a girl while she's asleep! this girl had too much to drink! join now for full video!" Great.
