I was just working on my two 30-year old Vespas. I kid you not.

Not necessarily mod, but associated... the Royal Canadian Motorscooter Portage hosted by the VCC in Vancouver is this September long weekend, as it has always been for the last 20 some odd years. Fun bands, good rides, and some mods. Well, maybe more... the mod population in the vintage scooter scene goes up and down with the tide.

Only 30 years old? Why those might as well be P-series! ;) I've noticed that about the "mod" population in the scooter scene, too. Well... sort of, at least. There are the scooter folks that one could call "mod," and then there are the "mod"ish scenester kids who decide to buy scooters. I know it seems liks splitting hairs, but you probably know exactly what I mean...and one group is infinitely more tolerable than the other.

...That said, I do still have my M-51 parka, and appreciate my share of soul music. If you ride a '60's Vespa, that much is sorta de rigeur.

How true. I ride 70's machines, so um... I used to blast Keoki on my 100W subwoofered bike on rallies. (Never fully gave in to the Mod / Soul thing, but loved the rides and the restoration and the tinkering.) Vorsprung Durch Technik, you know.

Nevertheless, the New Untouchables website is great - thanks Sgt!

dadadress.com (the target of the last "Mods" in the FPP) has some amazing clothes! They're all really expensively bespoke, though. Does anybody know an online store with similar clothes off the rack?

blasdelf, you might want to check out DNA groove. Which has high quality italian mod style clothing. I have purchased quite a few items from them and have been incredibly pleased with everything that they have sent me (trousers, button down, knit top, and a prince of whales check suit.) You could say I look quite the dapper fellow riding around on my 65 lambretta...

Also, anybody interested in mod happenings (soul nights/scooter rallies) might want to check out the Uppers Organization who have an excellent jet setter's "city guide"

It's not Northern Soul, in fact it's southern (US) soul, but y'all might like this mix.
