I'm still waiting for the Ministry spot to pop.
Jesus built my iPod
Soon I discovered that this rock thing was true
B Bob Dylan was the devil
Jesus was an architect previous to his career as a prophet
All of a sudden, I found myself in love with the world
So there was only one thing that I could do
Was ding a ding dang my dang a long ling long
Mainly Jesus
and my iPod

I love Dylan but give me a break this is in no way a 5 Star effort! ! But Rolling Stone has a history of doing that, after all they gave Mick Jagger's Goddess in the Doorway 5 Stars tee hee!! I just hate it when critics fall over themselves and heap generous praise on a decent, albiet lackluster effort. Like Love and Theft before it, Modern Times will get some play and then end up in the back of most peoples CD shelf's collecting dust. This is no Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on Blonde or
Blood on the Tracks. The last really steller Dylan effort was
Oh Mercy.

I realize I'm probably in the minority, but I though Goddess in the Doorway was friggin' awesome. For what it's worth.

hm. well. appropriateness of this as a post aside (I think it's alright -- Bob Dylan putting out a new album seems fairly important, from the perspective of how influential he's been on the entire world of music) I think I might end up checking out the album, now.
I think I'll listen to it while enjoying this delicious grande caffé mocha from my local Starbucks™.

the thing that impresses me most about this new album is that he seems to actually be pulling/tugging/pushing/shoving the tempo/phrasing of his songs again
the chorus in that commerical is a good example -- i cant remember the last time he teased with his delivery like that
saying this album doesnt top the first few waves of his career is kinda, well.... shhh, dont talk.

CDs sounds like crap. DRM'd highly compressed and lossy AAC, well, now you're talking Bobby's language!

Man, Dylan looks totally cool and sounds fucking great on that ad. I don't doubt that his new record (self-produced, I hear tell) is fantastic.
The last really steller Dylan effort was Oh Mercy.
So, dailygrowl, Time Out of Mind didn't make it to your local record shop?

Um, no, I mean he looks totally cool. But then I think lines of age often make a person's face more interesting, more noble, more authoritative.

fwiw, I reaaaally digg the new album. I'm pretty sure Ain't Talkin is gonna get played as much as Highlands as much as It's all over now baby blue, etc.
It stands up with the best of his rest.
