Tabblo looks pretty cool. It will integrate with Flickr photos (or upload your own) and let you make a collage-style poster that can be had for $20. Very web 2.0-ish, but seems to be well executed. This could be an easy way to make a poster of album art? (via Lifehacker, via Techcrunch).

What am I missing? Why the ominous premonitions?

I dunno, is there enough blue for it to be Web2.0?

Web 2.0 disappoints.

So what's the cursing for? Yeah, it's kind of dorky and "bleeding edge", and yes, it's been on Lifehacker before (didn't know that they were so bad) and yes, it was mentioned several days ago in a comment - but I'm still excited about it, and I thought that at least one other person would have a use for it. Sheesh.

The photo layouts kind of make my head hurt. My age is showing.

I got all excited but it doesn't seem to be interfacing with Flickr quite as happily as I'd wish - it's only uploading my last 20 photos, which as it happens are not the images I want to make a Tabblo out of. So I am sad now, for I am not feeling energetic enough to search those pictures out on the hard drive and upload all of them - eesh. If I'm going to that kind of trouble I can lay them out myself and even integrate text, whoooeee.

However it's bookmarked and you never know, I could well use it someday. I give it cool points in potential.

mygothlaundry: the Flickr importer brings in 20 photos to get started, and will do the rest as a background process shortly. How long it takes depends on how many other people are queued up ahead of you. We try to be gentle with the flickr connection, as the demand can be quite bursty.

I hope you give it a try....

I was wondering what all those "TABBLO IS COMING!" billboards were about...

My Mac crashed after opening the link. Is that what the "uh oh"'s are for, or are the two events unconnected?

Web 2.0 depresses me. Lifehacker posts about Tabblo which echoes Flickr. I even like Flickr, quite a bit, but in that sentence it just makes me despair for the days of company names like The Aluminium Company Of Canada and Imperial Oil. They may be gigantic monopolist juggernauts, but at least I don't roll my eyes at their names.

tabblo does tableau (is that how you spell it?). The name is not that odd, really.

I didn't make it clear enough in my comment: I'm one of the engineers that built Tabblo.
