Pyrats! In celebration of today being that day, here's a very well-made cartoon short from a group of students from the French animation school Gobelins. Be sure to check out the making of page for character designs, and some great shorts from the crew showing their process.

Blast! Well, at least this time 'round the film's available in a higher-quality, as well as downloadable. Plus the making-of stuff is new, so hopefully my post can stay. P) <-eyepatch smiley.

One's a ninja! One's super strong! One's a woman who barely keeps her breasts inside her shirt! What original never-before-seen characters!

...eh, well at least the ending was decent.

If any non-french speakers viewing 'Lionel' want to know what's happening they can find out here.

What's in the water at Gobelins, anyway? The work thier students turn out is amazing. I did a post on another one of thier projects a while ago and I was stunned by how polished the shorts were.

Thanks, kosher_jenny. I didn't see this the first time, and having a high resolution version of it is a treat.
