That's just cheating!

Good, but a bit UK-centric. They've done Swervedriver, but not REM. Soft Cell, but not the Tragically Hip.....

Good, but a bit UK-centric.

Of course it is. We're mostly Americans. :-)

Very cool, Klang. Thanks.

Now all we need is a Rough Guide to 80's Young Adult Science Fiction and we'll never need AskMe ever again.

Holy crap the jazz section sucks!

the nice thing about the link is that ILX is a great collection of boards and if you're unhappy with a particular section or genre of this particular part you can always join up and contribute.

or... you can suck it, haters.

Holy crap the jazz section sucks!

Well, they do call it, after all, The Rough Guide to Chart Jazz. Pretty funny, "chart jazz".

And this disclaimer: "hopefully I'm not missing anything too big" serves as an admission that jazz is not this fellow's area of expertise.

Hmm, is this a bad list or was 90s indie rock not as good as I remember?

Holy crap the jazz section sucks!

It doesn't suck—that's all good stuff, if not great—but as flapjax says, it's obviously by someone who isn't really into jazz.

It hasn't yet.

For some reason, that error message always creeps me out.

If only we knew an easy way to turn them into playlists, for the iPod

"It doesn't suck—that's all good stuff, if not great—but as flapjax says, it's obviously by someone who isn't really into jazz."

The "Chart Jazz" made me assume that it was all jazz songs that had charted (either pop or jazz), and thus was the more popular works from 20s-60s. You're not going to find the ACM on there, but that's not really what it's for.

(And you can always toss your own rough guide up).

As for the '90s indie rock one, I think they got most of the bands (missed Sebadoh), but not the songs I'd choose.

"Rough Guide to 80's Young Adult Science Fiction"

All of those questions should just be met with a script that suggests random Daniel Pinkwater books.

I was already to pooh-pooh this until I saw that there's an Akron list. Wow.

Oh my god, thank you.

I personally love the UKcentrism. British music has always been better than American (with a few exceptions), anyway.

hahahahahaha. Awesome.

It's a tie Jess the Mess, just like Vietnam.

Thanks Klang.
