Man, that's a slow website.
posted by smackfu at 6:15 PM on September 26, 2006

For those of you who enjoy bulleted lists, here is an incomplete set of things that don't belong on justcurio.us:

Racially offensive stuff
Sexually offensive stuff
Advertisements / Spam
Questions that are not questions
Answers that are not answers

Oddly enough the first two question sets I received matched every criterion on the list except for "racially offensive stuff."
posted by Iridic at 6:15 PM on September 26, 2006

I did enjoy this question:

I am a Fucktard! That I come here?
posted by smackfu at 6:17 PM on September 26, 2006

You can take your web 2.0 and shove it.
posted by allen.spaulding at 6:24 PM on September 26, 2006

It's too bad there's not a button "Flag this as being completely retarded, pointless, and not even a question." Maybe they used to have one and it wore out.

Sooo bad.

This website sucks?
posted by dirtynumbangelboy at 6:29 PM on September 26, 2006

Rob & Jon, you seem like smart guys and have a great sense of design. Why spend time building a beautiful site full of shit? I'm kinda missing it here.
posted by GuyZero at 6:33 PM on September 26, 2006

What Iridic said.

And none of these crap sites work because there is no community spirit, no value to any of the random crap, no order, unlike AskMe.

I just got "Does your girlfriend's pussy stink?"

Brilliant.

can someone please explain what "venemous booshine" is?
posted by killy willy at 6:45 PM on September 26, 2006

The trouble with that site is that it's either not being moderated enough or can't be moderated enough to screen out all the shit. The end result is very poor.
posted by Flitcraft at 6:46 PM on September 26, 2006

Moderation should be done entirely by users.
posted by phrontist at 6:49 PM on September 26, 2006

I am not joking, this is what I really just got:

Will the faux-elitist web community Metafilter ever evolve their conversation beyond snarky, arrogant commentary which involves leftist knee-jerk reactions to any thing not abiding by their skewed worldview with an automatic comparison to George W. Bush being the norm. Well will they?
posted by jessamyn at 6:52 PM on September 26, 2006

I got "have u seen JackAssII where the guy eats a cupfull of horse cum? It's so gross!!!".

Possibly there are some flaws to this system?
posted by Artw at 6:53 PM on September 26, 2006

I got this one:

"OMFG XD40X66 She thinks she can beat Spamtaro ! LOL OMFG"

I'm considering posting it to AskMe.
posted by mr_crash_davis at 6:55 PM on September 26, 2006

http://justcurio.us/search/questions/metafilter.

People have questions about MetaFilter. It's only natural.
posted by GuyZero at 6:57 PM on September 26, 2006

Moderation should be done entirely by users.

As Tom Lehrer once said 'The reason most folk songs are so atrocious is that they were written by the people.'
posted by Flitcraft at 6:58 PM on September 26, 2006 [1 favorite]

On the other hand, this one is brilliant:

"Me and BillyBob went down to the rodeo today. BillyBob plum forgot his riding harness but instead of going back he said he was gonna ride that bull bareback. I told him not to be crazy but he was adamant. That bull went and crushed BillyBobs Jacobs Cream Crackers and we had to stretcher him back to the shack and get SueEllen to sew his bollocks back on. Shoulda BillyBob gone back for his saddle?"
posted by mr_crash_davis at 6:58 PM on September 26, 2006

Here ya go, jess:
I for one welcome our new snarky, arrogant overlords. That vibrate. With cameras.

Gosh, now I feel all Web 2.0ey.
posted by yhbc at 7:02 PM on September 26, 2006

This site is strangely compeling. Probably not for any reason that was intended though.

Maybe we can post it to Slashdot and really trash it?
posted by Artw at 7:07 PM on September 26, 2006

Sooooooooo slow.
posted by bunglin jones at 7:09 PM on September 26, 2006

This whole "Web 2.0" schtick of designing retarded socially-oriented websites in ugly fruity colors is really getting on my nerves. Whoever started this crap needs to die in a fire.
posted by nightchrome at 7:18 PM on September 26, 2006

Weirdly it allows any sort of filthy answer but gets prudish about quote marks...

Anyone else seeing a disproportionate amount of Q & A from Ecuador?
posted by Iridic at 7:44 PM on September 26, 2006

Why do the answers need to be on a separate page from the question page? Why does it default to just one gigantic question taking up the whole screen?

I am all about retarded socially-oriented websites in ugly fruity colors, but the UI doesn't seem entirely thought through.

One thing I do love, however, is that the site features several putdowns of Metafilter splattered with grammar, spelling, and logic errors. "Faux-elitist"? So we are just pretending to be elitist but are really raging populists?

Well will they?

No.

Everything in with moderation.

Until it gets some, this is going to be nothing more than a clearing-house for useless jokes about Chuck Norris and whether or not faux elitism is a good thing or not.

Oh, and questions about tits.

[the last 20 questions I read contained at least one of these themes. I think it's safe to say we've tainted their pool]

That woman crushing the cat was so sexy! Just to see her gorgeous sexy feet trampling the defenceless animal she had just cradled so lovingly. It's the extreme mix of violence with a sexy woman (usually percieved as innocent) that leads to a bizarre reaction of arousal because it just plain doesn't make sense. She's just so nice and then so evil. Can you imagine being crushed by her? Her long legs bearing down on you before finally meeting your end beneath her feet?

This isn't what I'm looking for in a group hug.

This question is a false dichotomy; there is a possibility of existence between these states. Strive for balance in all things. Being content and average is superior to being foolish and happy or brilliant and despondent.

This reminds me of the Anonymous Message Server on smalltime.com, but that at least is purposefully dadaist.
posted by bobobox at 7:26 AM on September 27, 2006

It used to be that one of the best things about the internet was the anonymity. Now it's more of a fringe element reserved for these confessional type sites and 4chan. I find this intriguing. I wonder if a certain pathological type is attracted to the anonymous sites.

I'm kind of digging this site. It's mostly infantile but occasionally funny exchanges. Every so often the Turkey Pedophile, or Ecuador Spammer, or Man-o-Darfur show up and flood the site with shit, and then the deleters come by and undo some of the damage, also deleting anything sexual (and most of what's funny), and then the next day the whole thing happens again.
