don't know if it is real or not... but _if_ so that should just about put the nail in this election. On the radio the other day they where talking about all the up-for-grab seats in Congress, and someone asked, are there any Democrat seats in contention, the answer, "no". So it's just a matter of how bad the republicans loose.

Ohh, it's about abortion!! I had to get click-thru to the NY Sun article to pick that up. I thought the Republicans were promising voters they would provide free contract killings of prostitues who offer poor service. (The sad thing being I wasn't surprised they would make this offer.)

In looking for the video I noticed this (text) s also up at the Freeper site. It is interesting to read the comments in response... not so much this is "bad" as in offensive, but "bad" as in the language doesn't parse well.

Saw this on FOX news the other day. They read a transcription of the commercial while displaying it as they read. My favorite bit is when they spelled 'tout suite' as the anglicized 'toot sweet'. It looks absolutely ridiculous spelled that way.

This has nothing to do with wooing black voters, of course, it's meant to identify a pro-choice position, and therefore democrats generally, with the stereotype of black people that the creators of this believe is most repellent to other ethnic groups.

I don't even know what to say.
I could say that the "Leave it to Beaver" shot at the end of Vernon whoever's campaign ad is a lot more telling than people probably realize - isn't it obvious that some people in this country would like to see us go right back to the 50s? No legal abortion or reliable birth control (other than total abstinence, of course), segregation, total faith in the government, no public acknowledgement of any lifestyle choices other than the 2.3 kids, dog, white picket fence. Only three heavily-regulated television channels, pornography kept in brown paper, behind the counter, where you can only get it if you know who and how to ask (and are wearing a trenchcoat, fedora and dark sunglasses). Women at home taking care of the spawn instead of (gasp!) having careers. No such thing as feminism, chicks have had the vote for a while, but everyone knows a real woman knows just how to influence her man to vote the right way, anyway.
The thing is, that genie is already out of the bottle (and the womb, and the closet), and he/she won't go back in.
I doubt this latest line of attack is going to work. My neighbor, an about-to-retire African-American lady who has worked in the federal government for most of her adult life, joked during a political discussion last week that if there isn't a MAJOR change from the midterms, and an even bigger one in 2008, she's going back to Africa. I think she'd be insulted by these ads, and frankly, so am I.
Save pimps' and hos' babies so they can grow up to vote Republican! Because those damn dirty lib'rals would have let your mommy and daddy kill you in the womb. Christ almighty.

Is this one of those things where a republican group makes a fake ad and the lets it "slip" to the media, and everyone gets really upset about it, but then the republicans let everyone know it was a fake because how could republicans possibly be so dense as to make a real ad like that and then say it was probably created by liberals who wanted to portray republicans as really dense?
'Cause I don't see how anyone could've made that ad in all sincerity. I mean, I'm not black, so maybe this sort of ad really is effective, but I kind of think it's more insulting.

Seems like every day, I say un-fucking-believable (and yet unsurprising) when I hear about the latest Republican stuff.
However, their base thrives on fear. They need something really scary, as a relative told me last night, the democrats want to get out of Iraq, so the bombs can start falling over here and not over there. This comes from a college-educated man who is convinced Al Qaeda is a mortal threat to the future of the United States, and the Democrats want to hand things over to Osama.
So, one really scary Islamic-related thing... and the Repubs are right back where they were-- every other debacle be damned.

Durhey, could be, but the timing is awfully tight. That type of thing usually works best with a bunch of lead time for indivdual processing. Early and absentee voting has begun in many places already. Whne are the Republicans going to denounce the ad/s ? next Tuesdays marks 2 weeks to the general election, a bit late for subtile.
I think it is real, and may have more backlash than assist.
2 weeks, geeze, almost time to start holding your breath that nothing huge comes down the pipeline, and there again it'd be all timing, too close to the election and people vote their intial emotional reaction which could be negative, so the next 10 days are the most crutial.

I think you have all underestimated how convincing these ads can be. The fact is, the organizations who are promoting the have done their research - they wouldn't spend money on ads that were ineffective. Democrats need to have a backup plan (or maybe a blackup plan).

The ad is certainly not intended to win Blacks to the Republicans -- they put out token efforts, but the Republicans wrote off the Black population in 1968. It's plainly aimed at the people who think Blacks talk and act like that: white racists, who have been one of the Republican mainstays since the start of the "Southern Strategy."

After listening to the ad (thanks shawnj) it sounds more to me like Black Republican man talking to White Democrat man (not two black men talking). Meanwhile the white democrat is painted as: Insulting to those who join the military, non-patriotic, adulterer, gambler (heading for the slot machines), and non-working (or independently wealthy?) and, as noticed, an assumed abortion advocate. Since he was not that low, apparently he qualifies to be welcomed for inclusion in the ranks of Republican voters.

As an aside (in reference to the "Republicans have always looked out for us" ad on youtube), most people here are aware that the parties basically traded names mid-century. It's so sickening that they're blaming Democrats for something that they did, and are aware of the evilness of.
Can you imagine, writing "Democrats started the KKK", knowing that it was your party? Or that "Lincoln was a Republican"? Ok, I suppose it's possible that the writer of the ads wasn't aware of it, but it's still the kind of thing that makes you say "Dayam".

Anyway, I'm ot sure how they expect this to work... most minorities that I know of folks see jobs and health care as far greater priorities than abortion laws or protection from the so-called terrorists. Or the scourge of the liberal agenda.

It's disingenuous, to say the least, to suggest that "democrats started the KKK." The implication is that the KKK is a part of the democratic party, which it is/was not. Historically, segregationist southerners voted democrat, mostly because of a little thing called the civil war, but the democratic party has no affiliation with the KKK.
It's a little bit like saying that republicans "started" modern hate groups whose membership is more likely to associate itself with the most reactionary and nativist elements of the contemporary republican party.

Also, the "advertisment" scripts have an awful lot of spelling errors in them. (Even the last sentence of the front page says "Please help us stay an ther air"
