Comic filter: Free Powers
Brian Michael Bendis is making the entire first run of his popular comic Powers available online, including some of his page scripts and Oeming's layouts. They are posting a page a day (currently at 67). A great (free!) read and interesting look at how it is done.

Nice post cgs. Powers is one of the really good books out there and this is an excellent way for Bendis to grab new readers.

Kaja and Phil Foglio did the same kind of thing with their Girl Genius comic -- amassing an ever-growing archive of the comic online. It's a nice way to expose a comic that's already had its day in the sun in print, to a different audience. Increase the customer base for future work.

My girlfriend is gonna be stoked about this. She picked up Powers #1 but we had to quit getting comics for a while due to monitary concerns.

Fantastic stuff, thanks cgs. It's good to read this again, and even better with extra background material.

Does anybody else read the comic at the first link and think that, maybe, instead of "Powers", the comic should be called "Maze of Speech Bubbles"?

Never seen this before. It's great.

'Maze of Speech Bubbles'? Yes.

Bendis has always been like that, but it's brilliant! I never really appreciated the genius effort of page layout until I started reading his books. And besides, it's sort of fun to follow the maze of conversation.

lekvar: They've done 9 trades at this point. Good for you, if you're looking to catch up, but dubious for those of us that bought and currently store the singles.

And Deena has managed to jump off the hook a couple of times as well. Great fun!

Cool. I'll continue to shell out for the TPBs, but will forward this stuff on to those whom I don't trust lending my preciouses to.
