Ever wanted to be a little chick with a gun, knocking down hundreds of blocks? Well, now's your chance in Kumoon: a fun, free little physics-based game (for Mac and PC) in which you must knock down all the blocks in a room with limited resources. Screenshots, review + movie courtesy of this excellent list of physics-based games of all kinds. Something for everyone.

Some things you might not know from just playing it:
-You can push blocks, just not the red ones (this is very useful)
-E switches weapons; your first shot in a room is always free.
-You can right click (or something on mac) to flap your little wings and fly a bit.

I definitely thought something else when I read "chick," but that's probably sorta the point.

Pretty cool. The soundtrack rocks. A save option would be pretty nice.

Thanks! My kids love games like these, and so do I.

You can continue from the last level you played as long as you don't quit. So be careful when hitting that Esc key! Glad you guys like it.

It's nice and pretty, but from playing the first 10 or so levels, it seems way too easy - mainly because you can push deactivated blocks around, it's trivial to win just by doing that. Does it get any harder?

It does get harder (there's 30 levels I think) but not a LOT harder. It's mainly a demonstration of the style of play rather than a complete game. Later on you have to pull some moves, though.

Whoa. People still make shareware games? I thought it was all Flash anymore.

Man, this takes me back...

For the linux users, the game works very well in WINE.

You mean to tell me those weird Mac people can plug two-button mice into their toys?

I don't consider mac fans "people," actually... more like "plague-ridden filth, not worthy to lick the lint from my navel." I put a virus in the mac link that blows up your computer and beats your dog.

I wrote a Mac worm. Because the OS is secure it instead attacks the user. It sucks up about 20% of their processing power by forcing them to repeatedly point out their OS's superiority. It also creates a purchasing power overhead of about 30%. It's called OSX.CultOfJobs and it is written in English.

Ah - you're absolutely right, I apologize. I definitely missed that post... Still a great game. Thanks for pointing that out, loq.

I wish there was a no-scoring mode so I could just blast through all the levels with the shotgun. Nice game, though.

Has anyone figured out the last level? I think I've got a solution, but I haven't been able to make it work consistently.

Your best chance to complete the last level is to take out two blocks (the center block + another) with the grenade launcher with your first shot. That will put you enough in the green for a fighting chance to complete the level.

Once you knock off the center block + 1, you must knock off the last 3 with the revolver. You must hit each one on a rebound. You can miss a few times, but each missed shot puts you in the red.

I learned how to hit the blocks on the rebound by standing in a precise spot next to the block, and aiming my laser targeter at a specific spot on the wall. I eventually found the spot where the bullet would rebound and strike the block.

It's incredibly tedious, and all you get in return is a simple "CONGRATULATIONS" message.
