I like that they gave the jester from the first video a job in this one-- he probably has limited employment opportunities.

phhtt. Everyone knows that Ivan could never top the Folk of the 80s ep.

I like it. I don't LOVE it. But as a follow-up from one of the All Time One-Hit Wonders, it has historical value. And a dwarf.

I gotta say, Men Without Hats seemed much cooler when they were fresh. And I was 10 years old.

Just goes to show you that even the one hit wonder bands have other songs, even if they aren't very good.

They really CAN dance if they want to.

It's almost like they were lip-syncing.

I LOVE
This was the first time Spongebob actually made me laugh out loud. If I hadn't just posted my one FPP for the day...

I always loved that whole Men Without Hats "Rennaisance faire/D&D rock star" aesthetic. Kinda like a low-key version of the "Steppin' Off" video.

When I think about those nights in Montreal...I think of Eugene Levy on SCTV doing this exact same video, except that he kept growing more and more body hair as it went on.

Apparently, the odd utube video is all that we haven't linked to, yet. Is our work here done?

I'll just stick with the Safety Dance, thank you.

One Of The Greatest Moments In The History Of Recorded Sound (YouTube)

Perhaps we could designate one day, one single day, never to be repeated again, for every MeFi member (who is so inclined) to post an FPP to his or her favorite YouTube music video. The one music video one that speaks to his or her generation/inner child/golden memory/whatever. We'd get it out of the way, and we'd never have to do it again.

One hit wonders? Nay, I say two-hit wonders. Amateurs.

STEALIN

This band, along with Deep Purple, I believe seem to be the target bands that Spinal Tap was written about.

That wasn't a hit.

Safety dance hit #3 on the billboard charts, Pop Goes the World hit #20. Where's your cut-off?
posted by overhauser at 9:00 PM on December 9, 2006

In these parts, back in the 80s, they were known as "Band Without Teeth."

Thought you might say that.

I still get Pop... stuck in my head once in a while.

Like right now.

Honestly, and I vegged to a LOT Of MTV during the 80s, I don't remember ever seeing that video.
