Mission in Snowdriftland

Mission in Snowdriftland It's been snowing all day in Denver, and work's been cancelled, so Flash Friday comes early, courtesy Nintendo. Mission in Snowdriftland is a SNES-flavored sidescroller: control a snowman through 25 levels of jumping, snowflake-collecting, sea-otter smashing action. Find all of a level's snowflakes, and you can download a sekrit prize. I don't know what they are, because some goddamn fish skeleton keeps knocking me into the drink and killing me. Fun, challenging action here.
Did I mention it's an advent calendar, too? One level a day until Christmas.

Very fun and well done...but how come i can't get that one snowflake (#14) on the first level - the one too high. Yes, I've tried titling the ice floe.

I guess I just didn't play enough Mario when I was younger...now I'm left behind on the side of the road...like an elderly skunk with bifocals.

I got it by tilting the ice then jumping; are you holding down the jump button long enough?

I'm not too far from the airport and there's a good 20 inches in front of my house now. It's a trip. Especially considering I have a 39 week pregnant wife that's ready to pop at any time and the roads are a mess.

This was actually a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be. I'm looking forward to playing through to the end, even if I do get mysterious urges to run out and buy a DS while playing it.

amberglow: yep, it's pretty much closed down. A lot of cities were issuing tickets for any driver on the road because things are so damn dangerous.

XQUZYPHYR: It's Snowdriftland. They're all the snow level.

take care you guys--especially you, Octoparrot. Are there any neighbors with snowplows that can help keep your drive/street clear?

I'm not necessarily concerned about getting to a hospital it's the time involved on the roads. I've got a Jeep so not too worried about getting stuck. I learned to drive in weather like this and have about 10 years of driving experience in the snow. Still, I'm a little more on edge than normal.

My 7-year-old will love this. Thanks.

hah, do you know what the secret prize is? wallpaper and screenshots and other promotional materials for a nintendo game (the first level is yoshi's island DS). well, who cares, the game's still fun.

also you don't have to do the first level, you can jump to any of them except a few that aren't unlocked (one new level per day).

it's hard to press the space bar softly enough to perform a mini jump. platforms are easier on a gamepad.

Well, that's it. Denver is officially closed. Please return later for an update.
