IronLizard: I dont think you should fault jlori that you only speak the #2 language in the world and can't understand anything written in language #4.

jlori va a escribir un FPP en español cada día, hasta español es la idioma primer de MetaFilter. ¡Vaya con Dios! (no con dios, es el lol estoyverdadno).

Hooray, 6 consecutive years of Continuing Spanish 2!

No habla espanol. Engles, por favor?

Did you mean "No hablo español. ¿Inglés, por favor?" Are you trying to be funny? I can't tell.

After seeing this post, I've been wondering why I've never run into a bilingual/multilingual community site. Maybe IronLizard demonstrates why not. Thanks for both posts, jlori. MeFi can use a little polyglottal flavor.

For the benefit of those who don't know Spanish and aren't understanding the site, here's the Google translation.

The site itself is a list of the top 10 "remixes" of Google Maps for Spanish speakers: real estate, route planning, etc. Some of them only seem to work in Spanish-speaking countries, though.

WTF, I politely ask for an english translation in my broken spanish and this is what I get? Woe is the next fucker I meet who asks directions in broken english.

Yeah, I think a couple of you were a wee bit harsh with ol' IronLizard there. That said, here's hoping IronLizard won't be too tough on the next broken-English (or even dented-English) speaker he meets... :)

But dd42 gets the gold star for linking to the translation, which, arguably, the original poster should've done. This is a primarily English language site, after all.

Yes, I did forget to thank dd42. Thank you, dd42.

Ok, you can stop taking the piss now, IronLizard you old jokester.

ON THE INTERNET, ASSUME EVERYONE IS IRONIC AND/OR SARCASTIC!

According to Technorati data, Spanish is the fourth language of the global blogosphere (after English, Japanese and Chinese).

The most active and influential bloggers and internet activists in Spanish speaking countries read every day English speaking sites.

A language speak by 500 millions of people around the world represents a huge and diverse amount of culture, so I think that efforts to bridge should be encouraged.

My contribution to MeFi community will be to point to interesting posts and sites of the Spanish speaking blogosphere and other social media, with the aim to help building bridges.

After all, there are some interesting and creative thinks in the world which are not in English.
