I am new to this. Isn't this where we are all supposed to complain?

I don't know why. But I love this website.

Kwine writes "You know who else had a bizarre website?"

Sigh. Yes.

Okay, I give up. What is it?

It tries very hard not to make explicit sense but to contain as many contradictory cultural references as possible. I think it is what people call "post-modern art."

What is it?

A thing of beauty awesome. That's just what it is.

Trippy. I especially like the "Party Music" section.

Stalin, Stalin, bo-balin, bo-nanna fanna fo-falin, fi-mi-mo-malin...Stalin!

Hitler, Hitler, bo-bitler, bo-nanna fanna fo-fitler, fi-mi-mo-mitler...Hitler!*

Chuck, Chuck, bo-buck, bo-nanna fanna fo--uh-oh

* Back in the pre-web Usenet days, I made up the Nazi Name Game (von Ribbentrop is a ball-buster) and people got enraged that I made fun of the Nazis instead of taking them very, very seriously.

It's well put together, and I really don't understand it at all. Which I totally groove.

Nobody better explain this to me.

I have no idea where to click to get something interesting or useful.

So it's kinda like Metafilter. I dig it.

I'm not really big on Stalin, but I actually really like the design feel. If only it was a little less... oh, I don't know... Stalin-y?
Hmmm... needs more Tito. And perhaps a sprinkle of Mussolini with a side of Chairman Mao...

Pretty amazing design. I'm impressed with the amount of work that went in to it, even if I am unable to devine the why.

It's like a soviet themed superbad.

I'm too tired to try and figure out sites like this anymore. There's no pay off anyway.

-points for design tho..

Brother and I were just discussing Stalin the other day, in the context of who would be the best actor to get for the definitive blowjob biopic; I vote for Tom Selleck.

Mmmmm. Stalinicious!

So this light-grey font on a slightly darker-grey background thing, was that one of Stalin's favorite torture methods?

Stalin-rific?

A Soviet Laibach (but of course)
posted by stbalbach at 8:34 PM on January 24, 2007

I noticed that the A is upside down on the first page. It's like they're trying to make fun of the way people try to Russianize a word by making some of its letters backwards.
Is the party music by Stalin himself?

I feel like one of us should drive over to this guy's house and see if he's alright.

I stole that quote from someone, but I can't remember who.

languagehat, that's only one out of the many bad translations
posted by vodkadin at 2:40 PM on January 25, 2007

Oh, sure, but I wasn't correcting their translation (which I didn't even notice at first), just expressing my joy in an appropriately Stalinoid way, and translating for the benefit of those few MeFites not fluent in the great and mighty Russian tongue.
