Cory McAbee's Site: Best known (if known he be) as the dynamic front man of The Billy Nayer Show, this relatively new site features McAbee's art and some clips from his films, including the complete handpainted short Billy Nayer (14.3 MB QT direct download, lower quality Youtube here, some NSFW language).
Everybody owes it to themselves to see The Billy Nayer Show's astounding The American Astronaut".
Some friends and I were in brief contact with Cory in regards to a large party we were throwing that was partially inspired by the spirit of the film. He was very nice and very supportive of our efforts.

The commentary for American Astronaut is cool - he did it live standing in front of a screen.

God I loved seeing the Billy Nayer Show back when they were based in SF, and before Cory got married and happy. He's incredibly talented.

Especially a hasnamus.
Slowly making my way through a second reading, this time with the revised translation. The name just kinda popped out at me (well, it was almost Ashiata Shiemash, but that would've been arrogant).

Yea - used to see the Billy Nayer Show back in SF as well, (20 years ago or something? yikes!); I recommend The American Astronaut to EVERYONE.

Great post! I sat on the floor of a bar in SF and watched The American Astronaut on a big screen just last year, and at the Red Vic, and at least once at my house. Definitely a must see movie.
I didn't know that McAbee could be seen in other movies... look like he's been an extra in at least a few.
