Feed Me Bubbe
Why doesn't everyone do this with their grandmother? Avrom and his bubbe in a charming series about her great looking food. Learn a little yiddish while you're at it. O, yeah, there's videos here people...

I stumbled across this from a short clip found with the Democracy player.

I'm thinking of starting something like this with my southern grandma...

I'm kind of dubious about the premise but any series that takes three episodes to do chicken soup is all right by me.

Why dubious about the premise? I think sharing your grandma's cooking is an incredible idea, and an awesome way to share time with your family.

Because not everybody's grandmother is a good cook.

Or an even passably decent human being, for that matter.

Latke recipe with eggs? I will have to try that next time. Thanks. Latkes: the ultimate junk food.

Why doesn't everyone do this with their grandmother?

My Nan has a fantastic cooking technique - she sits at the counter telling my Grandad that he is a useless cook, is doing everything wrong, and shouldn't be allowed in a kitchen. Then she eats what he's cooked, and grudgingly admits that it's quite tasty. (How my Grandad has put up with this for half a century without loosing his mind, I don't know.)

Listener, I'm confused, every latke recipe I have ever had, had egg in it. It's just that the egg taste isn't overwhelming, but it helps hold the tots together. Without eggs, it's just hashbrowns.

watsondog has a point about not every grandmother being a good cook. My grandma's beef stew and meatloaf are second to none, but we'll never let her live down the devil's food cake she once made for my father's birthday. She claimed she'd made it from scratch... until my dad found the empty Betty Crocker box in the trashcan.

Mandel bread! My grandmother used to make that every time we came to visit. Ah, the memories...
