Bad Music Radio

Would you like to listen to some bad music? You know, just in case your good music gets boring. Opinions will vary of course. I kind of like the Temple City Kazoostra's version of Also sprach Zarathustra. The Museum of Bad Album Covers on the same site was discussed previously.

Would you like to listen to some bad music?

Why is it time for another Metafilter Compilation album?

Here's the REAL museum of bad music.

C'mon, some of those songs are good like Mr. T rapping and Muhammad singing his "Historical Theme" ("Who Put the Crack in the Liberty Bell? [Ali, Ali!]").

Now I'm listening to a great cover of "Anarchy in the UK" that gives MC Hawking a run for his money.

I have to say that I listened to the Temple City Kazoo Orchestra song and loved it so much, I had to find the album for download.

The album, "Some Kazoos" includes a downright wonderful live version of "Whole Lotta Love" being performed live at the Temple City Moose Hall.

Oh, and they have songs of The Beatles as barked out by dogs?

Amazing.

Those songs are actually pretty awesome.

This is great, if a little obvious.

I think the best bad music, like the best camp films are the ones that are done with the very real and earnest pretensions of "meaning" and "art"

Take the 1980 musical The Apple which has become a huge cult hit on dvd in the last couple of years. Its about a future (well 1994) where the world is run by a facist disco music producer, who also might be the devil. It ends with arguably the craziest deus ex machina in history and is probably one of the more ridiculous movies Ive ever seen. But you never doubt for a second that they mean it. Deeply.

The best schlock comes from the earnest motives deep within tender heart of the stupid and tasteless.

This stuff is good, and some of it applies to what i just wrote above. I just dont think a song like say "Fish Heads" which was written to be bad has the same zest as pretty much the entire soundtrack to the Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band movie, created with ambition and a straight face by people who really should have known better.

Those 386DX covers of "Anarchy" and "Teen Spirit" just kick so much fucking digital ass it's not funny.

Tangentially, it's because of this link, and the Abba Medley by Mini Pops, that I finally realized that the only Madonna song I've liked in some 15 years ("Hung Up" from her Confessions on a Dance Floor album), which I liked almost solely for the opening riff... was just an ABBA riff that she stole/licensed. Sheesh!!!

But yeah- these songs are "awful", yet some are surprisingly enjoyable. :)

Someone said bad music radio? What about a bad French music radio? This site has been going for almost seven years now, you can get a stream for Windows Media Player, Winamp and iTunes. Songs are not all in French, nor all bad, however those which are both French and bad can cause ear cancer.

Yes, most of those songs are simply snatched from the first 365 Days.

WFMU is currently doing the 365 Days Project again for 2007. They recently featured the absolutely incomparable (and wonderfully bad!) "Rappin' With Gas".

Rolf Harris' "Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport" does NOT belong on that list. That is all.

Beat me to it. I'm sure it says something about my own interests and such, but I LOVE the idea of robots singing emotionally powerful stuff. Robots have feelings, too.

highgene: Google "AudioHijack" . That is all.
