Its brilliance is that it is absolutely ridiculous

truer words have never been spoken. SMELL THE GLOVE!

Robert Plant calls "Stairway To Gilligan" his "all time favorite Led Zep cover version" on NPR interview. Thanks for nothing, Bob!

You know its a good post, but you could have fleshed it out a little more. You could have done what you did for Stardust .

I'll be singing, "and then the tiny ship was tossed" in my best Robert Plant falsetto for days.

By the way, Gilligan's first name was Willy and Mrs. Howell's maiden name was Eunice Wentworth. I know these things despite never being able to watch a complete episode ever. I never cared for the show. Bob Denver's Gilligan was such a come down for me after watching his Maynard G. Krebs in The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis. Gilligan was a doofus--Maynard was a rebel. ...Work!

Gilligan's Island originally had a calypso theme.

WOW, the pilot episode & theme appeared to kinda... suck. (The original theme reminded me of Peggy Lee's lazy Mexican song MaƱana... if it was less musical and went on for way too long.)

And hey, who knew their 3 hour tour was originally a 6 hour ride? At least that explains why everyone brought so much luggage... maybe their hotels wouldn't store it all day.

Thanks wheelieman for that FMU link. I'd forgotten about the Brave Combo/Tiny Tim StH. Sweet!

I actually saw this single in a record store back when it came out - unfortunately, I bought "A Day In The Life of Green Acres" instead !

Awesome. I heard this years ago on Dr. Demento and nearly forgot about it.

Thanks for reminding me.
