I think this is a German boyband and it wasn't at all spontaneous.

There is good music on the metro though, the Russian band by the stairs at Concorde...

Yes, a double. I like hearing a cover version that I like (such as this one) when I never liked the original. Difference between the song and the recording.

There is (usually bad) music all the time on the Paris metro, usually in the form of a homeless person moving from car to car. I would welcome good music for a change, as opposed to some guy trying to play Beethoven badly on a recorder. Impromptu is probably not the word I would use to describe the event. Free would probably be more accurate. What was somewhat outside the norm were all the French people who seemed to be clapping and singing with them.
