"What are they talking about?" Was it just an April Fools' joke? Are they really gonna end Red Vs. Blue: arguably the most successful machinima series ever? Will Blood Gulch be silent of one-liners and snide comments once more, or is this a blatant attempt by Rooster Teeth to drum up interest in their 100th episode? Considering the fact they started it four years ago on April Fools Day, it's really hard to tell. (surprise! no youtube links!)

Just in case that first link doesn't work for you or gets lagged out, the following is a quote from Rooster Teeth writer and director Burnie:

"Producing RvB and getting to know the people who watch it have been two of the greatest joys of my life. That's why we wanted to let you all know first that Episode 100 is going to be the last installment of The Blood Gulch Chronicles. One hundred is a great number, and it seems like the perfect place to call it a show."

*sniff* I've never been a fan of the game Halo, but I've always enjoyed RvB. I'll be back. I'm just gonna go sulk in the corner for a minute and hope I'm falling for an April Fools prank.

How unusual is it for this company to make such an announcement on a Sunday?

Yes Winston. That's one point in favor of this being a hoax. However, the first episode debuted on April 1st 2003. So for them it would make perfect sense from a standpoint of tradition, if not from an ideal marketing or publicity perspective. Besides, RT wouldn't be the first Internet company to do something strange on a Sunday.

"What are they talking about?" captures my reaction perfectly.

Sorry Mendel. I had assumed my audience would know who Red vs Blue is so I linked to Wikiquote in the OP and not Wikipedia. However, there's a primer for you in case you don't know what Red vs Blue is.. or rather was... or might still be. I'm so confused, but at least Caboose isn't O'Malley.

I bought the first season of RvB on dvd and paid to download the episodes. I shortly thereafter lost interest in the series, as I do with most everything else. The last time I heard from Rooster Teeth was when I discovered they were behind those sports video game commercials. That's about all I have to add.

So.............. What are they doin' now?

It's slower paced than RvB, and the humor's not as accessible, but I've always been fond of Hey, Shipwreck.

If by "accessible" you mean "funny", then yes, you're right.

Rooster Teeth's attempts at a Sims 2 series was a lot less funny, in my opinion.
