Remember Lasse Gjertsen? Now he's helping cellist Giovanni Solima, and has created an awe-inspiring multi-armed, multi-location music video for his piece, 'DayDream'. (video links youtube)

If you liked that, you'd probably also like this Sufjan Stevens concert video.

This video was pretty good, but I like the music better. I'm totally ignorant of modern composers, but that music is lovely.

Part one of Daydream was pretty, but part two freakin' rocks. I love how Gjertsen creates this illusion in the viewer that you're taking the voyage with the artist as he intuits the song and feels transported by the magic of generating the piece for a new audience. Gjertsen's "hyperactive" directorial approach grants us the illusion for just a glimpse. When really we're not. I mean, did Giovanni dream up the trees, or did Lasse? Breathtaking.

Excellent, thank you, I really needed that. I've been looking for new musical avenues to explore, this just might be one of them. Brilliant direction too.

I always suspected Shiva played a little cello now and then.

Thanks, Happy Dave, for the new (to me) music, and the new Lasse Gjertsen visual weirdness.

And here he is playing some of the same pieces, on instruments made of ice.

Oh, and official website. Auto-playing music, but it's lovely.
