It's nice to see young folk not being sarcastic for a change. Kudos to these two. They're a couple of real boosters!

Uh, are they somehow connected to the movie yet I'm totally unaware or have they finally sold out outright?

Pretty cringey-funny. I loves me some deadpan. And awkward silences.

More Tim & Eric videos.
Beaver Boys, Salame , Cool Cars (with Dr. Steve Brule), Sports, Poke 1 and 2
Yes, they are insane. I'm sure they are just putting up ads for Shrek because they are making fun of it.
If you find yourself singing "Shrimp...and White Wine" later today, then you are insane too.

Did I just watch a commercial for moviefone.com? (Pepsi Blue much?)
Oh, well...one of the few good things about being unemployed is that I'll be able to go to an early screening during the week.

I thoroughly loved Tom Goes To The Mayor, but I think this was a little odd even for me.

So I just want to clarify, because I'd never heard of these folks before... this is a link to an unsolicited ironic / sincere endorsement / mockery of the movie Shrek?
And it is interesting because although the actual content is fairly boring, low budget and straight-forward, the meta-content is high concept and extremely sarcastic, but there are almost no clues to this meta-text outside of the context in which the video is presented (e.g., Adult Swim, Metafilter, places where people usually don't post amateur Sherk III endorsements)?
'Cause I'd find that interesting. Confusing and weird, but interesting.
Child clowns.

Yes, they are mocking Shrek and Hollywood. This is Andy Kauffman material. The dead silence is supposed to remind the viewer that they really have nothing to say and the whole exercise is shallow. Shrek is a summer blockbuster movie, not a "film". Yet Entertainment Tonight and similar venues will make a big deal of it in the same way Tim and Erik will. Why are they plugging MoviePhone? It's a comment on how advertisements and shows like Entertainment Tonight really are one blended entity now.

I was going to say, "Neil Hamburger wants his shtick back," but then I saw this, and realized that he probably approves. Seriously, that clip is like the apotheosis of antihumor.

not really. it would be andy kaufman material if they went around the country doing talk shows promoting the movie when no one asked them to. as it is, it's just more of their standard material.
