Those who remember the insane driving/smashing/killing game Carmageddon might enjoy the little-known but equally insane Carmageddon Comic. Others, less so.

I had all three editions of that game. I highly recommend it.

I loved that game.

"Cunning Stunt Bonus!"

Bwahahaha.

Interesting mignola-esque style, any idea who the artist is?

Also whats with the lack of speach balloons?

Yeah, Carmageddon was something. Certainly paved the way for other ultra violent games like GTA. I did enjoy that game immensely... its certainly a guilty pleasure.

Up to page 8, however, the comic's not so good.

I'm guessing the artists are just the guys that run the website.

P.S. I was in the war!

Wow. That's really very unpleasant.

Great game, clever idea, nice art, crappy writing.

I'm with you on C1 and C2. But C3 was tripe.

Oh, God, getting the GOTCHA bulldozer in C2... there's some good times after that.

C2 fans should look at C2: Advanced, a hack that adds new tracks and whatnot.

For some reason I read "Carmageddon" as "Curmudgeon" and thought, "now there's a game for me, damn kids!"

This is nothing compared to the wonders of the Doom Comic, a far superior product. RIP AND TEAR!

Ah.... Doom Comic. Writing and drawing that must have been a particularly enjoyable ten minutes.

Well, it certainly wasn't the best of the series, but it had some decent gameplay. I think the worst thing they did was limit your maximum time, thereby completely limiting leisurely exploration.

! All kinds of add-ons are out there for this series.

I still find myself saying/singing that line here and there. No one ever knows what I'm saying or why I'm saying it - but I'm glad I'm not the only one who fondly remembers that phrase being faintly belted out in an alto manner while smearing pedestrians who just never saw it comin'

Carma 1 and 2 were tremendous fun. I remember upgrading my Power Mac 7500 to a G3 so I could play Carma 2 smoothly. Ah, the days of Voodoo2 cards...

My friends and I played Carma 1 and 2 on LAN until our fingers bled. Good memories.

This comic, however... ugh. I stuck it out all the way to page 5, and I honestly think I've earned some sort of decoration.

I was soooo sad when they dropped the project to port carmageddon to ps1.

But oh, what good times on the pc.

The comic, is uh, something.

*salutes CRM114, smartly presents miniature Dachshund*

*brings Dachshund to firing position and then squeezes small, perfectly formed coil of soft poop on each of CRM114's epaulets*

*salutes again, smartly turns about-face and returns to parade rest position*

*salutes epaulet shitting Dachshund*

It has been an honor to watch you work, sir.

The Electro Bastard Ray Gun (or something like that) was my fave. Unleashing it at the football stadium was the best.

Dems are some memories.

*grabs quin by the lapels of his dress blues, leans forward as though to say something of great importance. quin reacts as though a working refinery were shoved in his face*

I've... *hic* seen things... you wouldn't believe even if I wasn't too drunk to put them into the proper words. Attack bitches off the shoals of the Presidio, speed queens twittering in their glamness near the Van Ness station. All of that ... fucked up crazy shit will be lost in rye, like beery piss ... down the drain. Time for drink...

*casually but very thoroughly vomits into quin's jacket and shirt, looks unsurprised, smoothing out quin's jacket*

Ah, fucking hell. Sorry. That's going to sober me up right quick. Better make it a double.

SCI canceled C4 for Pony Friends, sad...

But anyways, Remember buying dual voodoo2 cards for C1/C2, even picked up the splat pack expansion. Loved deathrace 2000, even today I see a gray hair walking across the road, 100 points!

I loved Carmageddon so much I actually built a sit-down console around my old PC, with steering wheel, pedals, reclined seat, dashboard, etc.

I wish I had owned a digital camera at the time. That console was the best thing I ever built.

Carmageddon is the reason that I can't stand Twisted Metal. It's just missing something.

Carmageddon was pure fun. Is there any way to obtain and run it on modern computers?
I remember the first time I played it I was laughing continuously..
posted by jockc at 1:36 PM on May 24, 2007

You can try Dosbox, or one of it's ilk. I hear it can slow things beyond playability, however.

bah! Carmageddon!? Where's the comic for Quarantine?
