Congratulations. You've discovered and posted the Metafilter shill post meme of the 21st century.

It might be a hoax. Who knows. But I knew it would be posted here at some point, and I got there first.

I don't know, I've had cucumber flavored jellies and ices before, and they are pretty refreshing. I just don't find this all that odd actually.

Has the internets broken my weirdness sensor for good?

This sounds like the perfect thing to wash down tempura-fried gummies.

How come this gets so much love, but all of you were all "yecch" on the kool-aid pickles a while back? Aren't they about the same thing (or two sides of the same coin)?
posted by yhbc at 1:04 PM on May 24, 2007

This will be a refreshing accompaniment for shrimp flavored cotton candy at the amusement parks this summer.

Show some love to my Kool-Aid pickles.

(Also, this would go great with Hendrick's Gin!)

An Afghan coworker of mine once described a treat he grew up with, especially popular during the hot summer months in Kabul. Take a large cucumber, some unsweetened yoghurt, some ice and a few sprigs of mint and blend them together. Find a nice shady spot and enjoy. My mouth always waters at the thought, but I've never gotten around to making some.

So, yeah.

I don't think I'll be drinking any Pepsi Cucumber whatsit, but I think I can understand the appeal.

You soon shall be, humblepigeon.

lekvar, I believe that be raitu, more or less. yummy stuff.

artificial (therefore likely nasty) cucumber flavor would be bad. but a natural flavor could be great, yes exactly like pimm's cup.

I really love the subtle taste of the translucent white part of watermelon rind, the part right before it gets super-sour... it has a cucumber sort of taste to it.

I read the link title, "Pepsi Ice Cucumber", and clicked... the banner on the linked page said Japan Probe.

Cucumber, Probe.... I didn't wait for it to load.

Your assumption is only true because you turned it into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

"Someone else was going to do it" is no excuse for a crap post.

But that's cucumber, not pickle, so it probably won't help my hemorrhoids, right?
posted by davy at 1:39 PM on May 24, 2007

This could conceivably work. Cucumber is a really nice ingredient in martinis and mojitos. Plus I hear cucumbers have other uses. It's a pretty versatile veggie actually.

It will probably taste a bit like watermelon. Cucumber + sugar = watermelonlike flavor. Try it, you'll like it. If you like cucumber slices that taste like watermelon, that is.

Coke with Bacon doesn't surprise me at all, not since I had a bacon martini at the NYC meetup. My tag line for it, which I've probably overused, is "It's as good as you'd expect."

Any Mefites in Japan: I would gladly participate in some sort of exchange or just pay for the soda/shipping/etc.
