I'd say that chessboxing has finally found a decent rival - as far as geek sports go.

This is completely new to me. Thanks for the link, this is genuinely cool.

I love badminton. And I am quite good. Most people don't realize that you burn more calories in an hours worth of badminton than the same in tennis or raquetball.

I had not heard of speedminton. Thanks for the links.

This looks incredible. I want to play.

Two things automatically follow a good Badminton match: First, one feels like a superhero. Second, the world seems to be composed entirely of speed lines.

Calories? Speed lines?

I think my sister and I were playing it wrong. This is the sport where the birdie travels at the speed of sound for the first three inches off the racket and then moves so slowly it seems to be going backwards for the rest of the distance, right?

I love this shot.

Incredible.

Does Mountain Dew know about this yet? Somebody should probably shoot them an email.

er...not so quick with the speed. You can top 190mph with a normal shuttle & racquet as was recently done during a recent Sudirman Cup match in Glasgow and speeds of over 200mph have been measured.

Speedminton wins on portability and ease of use tho'.

I'm sorry, but no way am I gonna be playing that at night with a fucking glowstick. No thank you. Put ten fucking super-bright LEDs in that thing, then we'll talk.

I like the idea of Blackminton.
Reminds me of when I painted ping-pong balls with phosphorescent paint and we played ping- pong in the dark.

I took badminton for a pe credit in college and my gym teacher was a former US champion. He was just an amazing player and all around great guy. He saw that I was into the sport and we would meet in his free periods several times a week to play each other. I never beat him. In fact, most of the games were 15 - 1 or 15 - 3. You get the idea. But I once lost a game 15 - 14. And even though I didn't actually win, I played so well and was so in the zone, that I felt like I had dunked on Michael Jordan. Another semester and I know I could have won at least one. I wish badminton would catch on in the states because it is a great game.

No net? Half the fun is the challenge of getting a shot to brush the net, for me anyway.
