Snog that Snape, girl!

Anyone who has spent time browsing through Deviant Art has almost certainly run into the cartoons of a young Australian woman named Gemma Wilson. She is fond of Harry Potter, snakepeople and (occasionally) torture and hermaprodites. She has a fan club. And she has detractors. Make of this what you will.

Nice, although robpod99 is my favorite deviant (I hope he doesn't mind me posting his stuff here, but he is quite talented and creative).

Well, okay. I have the feeling that I would have slept better tonight if I had not explored this post. I make very poor choices.

This is NOT one of those times when I happily encourage someone to let their freak flag fly. If only this tortured soul could direct her energies into a more socially approved form of mental disorder, such as collecting stray cats or shuffling about and muttering ominously at the laundromat.

Actually browsing her gallery doesn't show anything particularly offensive, at least from the thumbnails. Even with the logon.

Did I accidentally click on Portal of Evil?

Many: the encyclopedia dramatica article had a lot of detail.

The best thing that can be said about Deviant Art is that the site's name is only half wrong.

Yeah, most of the stuff on there isn't particularly deviant.

What?
posted by hattifattener at 10:50 PM on June 26, 2007

Oh, it's deviant enough.

I love Encyclopedia Dramatica.

I hate DeviantArt and 99.9% of its denizens. And that's a conservative estimate.

Many: the encyclopedia dramatica article had a lot of detail.

I see a lot of stuff about her bad art and dramallama-ing, but nothing that's... significant.

I guess what I was really asking is, what's interesting/attention-worthy about this particular wacky BNF? What's the point of this?

And most importantly, does this mean I should make a fpp about Cassie Claire? Or if "creepy furries" is the theme here, I think Horsefucker would be a suitable one-up.

God do I love Encyclopedia Dramatica too!

Snapesnogger induces pulsating headaches.

As for my favorite creature on Encyclopedia Dramatica, I'd have to go for the very NSFW Ray Jones. Reacting to him is like laughing while crying from fear, all in the same breath!

I like her style. And this is nowhere near as twisted as the small gallery of Potter/Snape yaoi I keep solely for the purpose of horrifying adults who are just a little too into the whole phenomenon.

And Harry's always the bitch.

Okay, I haven't yet gotten past the main page of her DeviantArt site and I love the hell out of it. Mind, at this point there's no yaoi or weird shit there. In fact, the worst I can see is a little cartoon about why Snape's so grumpy. (Spoiler: funny!)

Hell, that big-ass gun thing is AWESOME.

Where's the horrifying here?

Make of this what you will.

I'd like to make a big, cleansing fire out of it.

What's so horrifying? Her art style. Every single male has no nose and that horrifying man-flower blush to the cheeks and the same blank stare. For all the legions of mpreg yaoi snake potter fangirls fawning over her art, you could apply it to gerge bush or hitler or something and not have the characters look fundamentally different.

Imperfect writes "Where's the horrifying here?"

I was thinking the same, until I hit the Encyclopedia Dramatica link. While I could really not give less of a damn about the drama involved, the horrible stuff is there. Not "oh my god, I didn't know that fetish existed" type horrible, but "snake-hermaphrodite ejaculating from its penis while its vagina is penetrated by another snake-hermaphrodite's hand" type horrible.
posted by Bugbread at 9:20 AM on June 27, 2007

Snake fetish? Or just not good at drawing legs?

Same reason a lot of DA artists only do profiles...can't get the eyes to look like they belong on the same face.
posted by JaredSeth at 9:51 AM on June 27, 2007

Well, really, it's more of a Naga fetish.

Deviant Art is the only real place on the Internet to get art larger than 640x480. Think about that.

Well, it's not like Harry would be topping Snape... I mean, come on. Let's have some believability in our tawdry porn!
