More interesting considering that Sochi just won the bid to host the 2014 olympics.

I spent the most boring eleven days of my life in Sochi in 1971—one third of a month-long tour of Russia that could have been spent in, say, Tbilisi, Bukhara, and/or Odessa, except that our tour leader was bored with all that and wanted to catch some rays on a crappy pebble beach with a bunch of East Germans, Poles, and other Eastern Bloc tourists. I still haven't forgiven her.

Oh, and nice site!

Er, for "Russia" read "the Soviet Union"—back then there wasn't any practical difference, but now none of the cities I mentioned as preferred alternate destinations are in the same country.

It's interesting. If you are a communist and hate freedom and liberty. Whatever happened to fearing the red menace? As soon as we let out guard down they terrorists have already won.

Thanks, Wolfdog! I've been through a Pimsleur set once before (for Mandarin, and found it rather boring), but this is exactly what I'm looking for when it comes to Russian.
