Sometimes I think I wanna but I don't know if I should - I'm glad you did.

Awsome find, I'd heard of this but never seen it. I'll get the Cramps everytime I watch this.

Best of the web! I have this on VHS somewhere, thanks for posting.

Excellent. I picked this up on dvd a few years ago, and was pissed about the running time (for twenty something bucks) - until I watched it. The set is pure fucking electricity and sex. And psychos.

I saw this years ago and it remains one of the funniest piss in your pants yet touching rock performances I've ever seen. Pure genius.

Creature from the Black Leather Lagoon warped my childhood mind.

My first big girl-crush was on a 1980 punk who played me the Cramps whilst thumping her heart and the wall to the beat, wearing a black thrift-store dress all torn to bits and giving me the eye. Oh, that was romance!

Sometimes I think I wanna but I don't know if I should. AHHHHHHHH!

I think I still have some Cramps LPS and EPS. Dang.

Bless Lux indeed. I didn't know he had such great legs until watching the Black Leather video. Thanks, furtive.

Growing up near Akron, OH, I always clung to the Cleveland/Akron/Kent bands as proof that my hometown area wasn't a desolate cultural vacuum (Dead Boys, Pere Ubu, The Cramps, Devo, etc.).

Nice one. I've never seen more than a couple of clips of the footage, either.

There was a re-enacment of the gig, complete with shot-by-shot recreation of the video performed at the ICA a few years ago.

Bikini Girls With Machine Guns - genius! Saw them on Halloween in London around this time. Fantastic. Lux came on in full patent leather garb, 6 inch stillettos and huge hair - he was absolutely off his face and climbed the PA and lighting rig hanging onto a bottle of vodka. A beautifully surreal moment was the security guard trying to coax him down while the band played on....

When people ask -- and they do -- why I named my daughter "Ivy," I usually say she was named after the bass player for the Cramps. It's a shame how many people have no idea what band I'm talking about.

I see The Cramps are "psychobilly.". How nice for them. Some people have to be psychotic hillbillies.

The Cramps at Liberty Lunch (I miss you, Lunch) was the best live show I have ever seen.

Fucking love them. Love these posts. I'd never heard of this before.

This is great stuff, I never heard about this show before. Weird to see Lux without a big bottle of red wine in his hand.

I usually say she was named after the bass player for the Cramps

Poison Ivy is a guitar player, and a damn cool one at that. Always has been. In the early days they didn't use a bass.

Great to see that up - A pal sent me a VHS bootleg of this around 1990. The best live show I've ever seen was The Cramps at Newport, Kentucky's storied Jockey Club in August 1986. I believe the LP release that time around was "A Date with Elvis". The bar ran out of booze, Lux took off all of his clothes, the works.

ya know, I saw the Cramps two years ago in Boston, and was impressed by their showmanship. All these years later, they still manage to exude some mixture of campy cheesiness, genuine menace, sloppy punk and accomplished musicianship. My 1984 self was not embarressed by the experience in the least.

You're right, InfidelZombie, and I know better. I was being distracted by my lil' Ivy as I wrote that.
