Wasn't something similar on TV recently? It was either the History Channel or PBS. I forget I didn't catch the whole thing.

In the preview this Allan Gurganus guy is funny saying the "Southern Nation" has immense advantages because they know what defeat feels like. I guess that makes the Germans doubly advatageous. And the "Council of Conservative Citizens" looks like they came on stage after the condo's board meeting.

Confederates in the Attic is a great book that deals with the same thing. Some of it's funny, some of it is disturbing as well; and the author never condescending.

Maybe its just the Yankee inside me, but I cringe when I hear "Southern culture"...
