Have you seen spiked?

spiked is a website for those who want to see some change in the real world as well as the virtual one. If you think that the power of the internet could be used for something more than shopping and pseudo-sex, get spiked.

Pretty lofty goals. What do you think? Their take on the European food problem seems sane, at least.

their purpose statement

Good reporting, some good journalists (ex LM journalists I see) but I fail to see how they are going to bring about the change they talk about.
Unless I'm missing something, this is a current affairs site with commentary, they make it sound like some sort of activist site.
I am indeed someone who wishes to see change in the real world and from the 3 or 4 articles I've read their politics are broadly in line with my own, but I don't see a call to arms or even just a simple feedback mechanism over and above the standard mailto:
Having said all that, the articles seem interesting and well written, I'll certainly be bookmarking and going back.

Just because spiked claims to be for those who want to see some change in the real world as well as the virtual one does not mean that it intends to bring upon that change itself. Like Markb said, an interesting enough current affairs site, but hardly worth any mention in terms of activism or divergence from standard news-telling practices. Perhaps, as their purpose statement indicates, the site will evolve to include additional elements. But come now, lets not kid ourselves too much...
