Coudal Partners is a Web / Media / Design studio in Chicago on which the following popped up: Steve Delahoyde's Regrets. Clicking through there were five others which are equally as funny as they are depressing: Boxes, Hobbies (regrets), Racism, Spoons, Kids.

After seeing Copy Goes Here, I wasn't expecting these to be very good.

They are.

Do these films actually have anything to do with Coudal besides the fact one is hosted there?

Hobbies is definitely the best, but they were all enjoyable.

A little funny, but they got too long to last. What was the point, don't take up a hobby?

Verdict: neither hipster involvement nor the provision of reasonable entertainment value entirely eliminate the cloying aftertaste of Pepsi BlueTM.

The hobbies one was great and struck a little close to home.

I found this Hilarious, but since then I've resisted linking to Coudal stuff because I figured everyone knew about it. I mean, if every post on a site is metafilter worthy, why post any of it, if anythings already been posted. I feel the same way about the loom

That said, it isn't so much that the coudal stuff is awesome but they just seem to have an aesthetic that would appeal to mefites, IMO. I don't read the site that often.

I think it is strange that coudal joined MeFi September 10, 2001. I mean really, it's like it's a part of some kind of conspiracy or something. Yanno? Some kind of fucker that knows that 3000 fucking people are going to die, so he joins some fucking website. What the fuck? Like he knows one of the biggest events of the century is going to happen, and knows he'll want to comment and join in some big fucking group hug to alleviate some of the fucking guilt he feels. Then, he doesn't fucking comment thinking maybe someone will suspect something. So the guilt just builds and builds since he never got to be in the group hug. I mean, this is some total Edgar Allen Poe shit going on in real life. Makes you wonder how it feels hearing that thumping every moment of every day. I dunno. It blows me away.

Kids and Racism are the funniest by far. The others are more turned-up-to-11 self-loathing (which is striking in its own way) without as much texture.

But agreed - awesome.

I am sick with the grinning. These videos are evil.

I joined August 24th, 2001. I think that's weird. And Metafilter was the first place I saw anything about the attack.

does anyone know the background music in these movies? It sounds like Beethoven, but I can't match it to the few pieces of his that I know...

Sorry if Coudal isn't new around here. This afternoon was the first I had ever heard of the site, and what lay within.

All are great. "Hobbies" really did it for me. Thanks for the post.

For a more in-depth (and subsequently longer) (oh and in my opinion much better) look at the character in "Hobbies" do please see Chris Cooper in Adaptation and/or read Susan Orleans' The Orchid Thief.

Sadly, after the comments, I was excited to watch a few. Afterwards, um, not so much.
