Wow, that's amazing. I love that he's just using his body for this, no puppets or props.

Not as impressive, in the same way, but here's some shadow puppetry (also by an Australian) worth a look, too.

These shadow dancers are definitely worth seeing, as well.

Oh, this is that video that has been making the email rounds. Gotcha. Dude has some serious talent as a shadow puppet master. Since I'm the last person on earth to see anything interesting, and I've seen this, this is just grandma cute, and not really interesting. I mean that in the most self deprecating way.

Gotcha.

Well, damn, it didn't make it into my inbox.

Guess I'm really out of the loop.

Having been sent this only this morning, I'm now painfully aware of my status in the rearguard of internet coolness.

And yes, it is cool. Reminds me in a way of this.

Eekacat-
If this is "just grandma cute" then fetch me my walker and shawl, 'cause Granny Lekvar thought that video was the cat's pajamas!

djgh: buttress the front line!

*i* hadn't seen that mime/torn video, and it made me giggle. a lot.

so, glory thee gentle knight! you have shown your quality.

Granmas are waaaayyyy cooler than you suspect.

I declare this to be cool. It's always good to see people who have honed obscure skills that never would have seen the light of day getting some exposure.

I loved it too. But then I love making shadow puppets, as I discovered one day rather accidentally (self-link, one photo, totally lame by comparison). I'd love to be as adept and creative as this guy is, for sure, but god only knows how long he had to work to get this good.

I also really liked flapjax at midnight's shadow dancers link, and it made me wonder if there are any shadow puppet people performing in groups. How fabulous would it be to see a shadow puppet theater troupe perform songs or short plays like The Fifteen Minute Hamlet? I'm thinking "very." Thanks for this post, Kraftmatic.

When I first saw it, some of the edges between black and white looked like animation to me - but since then many people have chastised me for my skepticism...

I can do the bunny, but that's about it. I really liked the details, for example the "wipes" between scenes.
