Pondering recurring themes in music and music videos for your viewing pleasure.

I was taking a shower and thinking about all of the music videos that include water/liquid in them. It is an overused theme according to this site, and I agree. I have included some painful ones to make my point. But wait, I stumbled upon this and was mildy turned-on in some strange way. God help me. Then my mind moved to a friend of mine who was obsessed with Johnny songs. There are quite a few of those too as you may well imagine...

Full disclosure: my son's name is John.

My favorite Waterboy.
My favorite Johnny.

And because someone has already done the work for me I present this website of Johnny lyrics.
Due diligence: Previously mentioned water and previously mentioned Johnny's

Lately I've been thinking of this music video in the shower.

GYOB.

And... I could have sworn that 30 seconds ago you had more inside.

And now it's back. (Your more inside was invisible on my preview.)

it's ok to be turned on by those performers, as long as you close your eyes when the video is playing.

the visuals are so unspeakably dorky, my eyes bled. but, the music....damn. they are both seriously talented percussionists, and her voice is hypnotic.

coulda been better without the goofy drum track that sounded like it was generated by a 1986 casio.

i'm off to find out more about those 2. thanks for your post.

also, my favorite liquid scene from a music video:

"angel is a centerfold" -- the milk snare drum. god that was so cheesy cool when i was, like, 10 or something.

My favorite water video.

That's some really terrible music right there. Honestly, I think I prefer the soundtrack to this more than any of the other water links listed so far.

The video that turned you on reminded me a lot of the video for Tupelo by Nick Cave. A youtube search proved fruitless.

I was taking a shower and thinking

And the water was so piping hot? The water was so piping hot? It beat upon your neck, and you were pissing on yourself?

I can't help but giggle at this. Ten minutes ago, I was here.

I'm sorry, dude, but Epic by Faith No More is an absolute classic. If you're not moved by that song and video, there's something wrong with you.

Not enough showering.

dobbs, you're right. This was written from an entirely too personal viewpoint. I see that now after a few hours of sleep.

Everybody else, thanks for posting additional cheesy vids!

*ahem* The vid I posted was not cheesy, my friend.

You might wanna get a little more sleep now and again. Before posting, anyway... Looking at your username's namesake, perhaps you should take a page out of his book: Cohen often spends years working and reworking a song until he's perfected it to the best of his abilities. I don't think he ever put anything onto a record that, shall we say, he hadn't slept on.

I love the Portishead video for Only You directed by Chris Cunningham. It was filmed under water in slow motion and all the air bubbles were removed digitally.

Here's my favorite water video. The sprinklers over the naked, painted ladies go off at around 2:15

I think this is my favorite water video. PJ Harvey - Down by the Water.

No surprises here from Radiohead.

onlyconnect,
Wow thanks, I love Radiohead. That video is more claustrophobic than the Cure's Close to Me. I'm still trying to catch my breath.
