Pat Condell is back. This time with a response to Osama Bin Laden's invitation for all westerners to adopt Islam to end the war in Iraq. He's trying to be teh funny, but makes a couple of good points. See more of his entertaining and sometimes enlightening (kinda) vids here.

I had to turn it off halfway through. Good points in this debate can stand on their own; that's part of what makes them good points. Reason, love, peace, tolerance, and freedom don't need smarmy, smirking condescension to go down better. It just defeats the purpose.

Sure, this is jokey but not funny. However, some of his bits really nail down the core troubles much of the West and Asia are facing with "insurgent" Islam.

He says something like: The west has adopted an attitude that is accepting of all cultures and religions regardless of how strange or different they might seem.

Those "welcomed and accepted" immigrants are the same people who have been exploding things/people in the U.K. and rioting in France. (Of course those "extremists" don't represent all immigrants.) But it is a great example of the paradoxical world we live in.
