Any post mentioning His Majesty Richard Price is OK with me.

Are we going to have to work out backronyms for ROSANNA now, cos that seems difficult?

Do any of the stories end in a mushroom cloud? That's the only kind of New York Story I'm going to bother with. If none of them end in molten, radioactive slag hissing into the Hudson, this film is all just masturbation.

Ride On Some Asshole No Name Actor

Oi, Curley. How many games back now? Fuckwit.

I've always liked this NY story about Steve Buscemi:

The day after the September 11, 2001 attacks, Buscemi went to his old firehouse to volunteer for recovery work at Ground Zero. That week, he worked 12 hour shifts digging through the rubble, while refusing to do interviews or have his picture taken. [via]

You mean the Red Sox? UP 3 1/2 over the Yankees for the division at the time of this writing. Big baseball fan, huh?

I always felt that the entire genre of omnibus type films sounded great on paper but hardly ever succeed in creating a fulfilling cinematic experience.

Where did I say "lead"? I don't care what you are, as long as it's liquid and that's not your natural state.

Oh. I see. You called me a slag? Now you're for it ;-)

I can't think why I was thinking of lead...

"Life Lessons" is one of the greatest films ever made. "Life Without Zoe" is... well, I'm really not even sure why Coppola made it, to be honest. And "Oedipus Wrecks" is a pleasant way to kill twenty or thirty minutes.

I got yer back, jonmc.

Now can we get back to my hillarious bit with the ROSANNA?

It is all about me, you see.

So I just popped in to see what people were saying about this movie that I thought was kinda mediocre & overrated back when I saw it... and wouldn't you know there are two guys in a pissing contest, insulting eachother for reasons that are unclear. Hey, this thread really does feel like being in New York! Thanks guys!

Now this is the part where you guys are supposed to have your gangs meet at an intersection somewhere, right?

(sorry, can't resist)

It doesn't matter anymore. October 27, 2004 changed everything. We live in a post 10/27 world. I saw my father cry on 10/27.

Seriously, if I didn't have a secondary connection to Philadelphia, I'd be rooting for a 1986 rematch. Glavine, Pedro (looking a lot like the classic model), a guy named "John Maine"? How can you hate them?

On 10/27, Our Lord Jesus laid Buckner's soul to rest. It's in a jar at The Stockyard restaurant in Brighton, and the bartender will show it to you if you ask politely.

The Woody Allen clip cuts off at 9:06, is that normal or is a part missing?

If I recall, that was probably a blessing, stereo.

It lasted long enough to verify that yes, Larry David, was in it. To which I can only say ... These pretzels are making me thirsty.

Life without Zoe...because rich teenage New York girls in New York in the '80s were all about singing Joe Walsh songs.

I got to meet Pianosaurus, the band at the park in Life without Zoe, backstage at the old 9:30 Club in DC after one of their shows.

That's the only kind of New York Story I'm going to bother with.
Have I got the movie for you.

Bitter bitter bitter.
Just because you were asked to leave doesn't mean you can't go fail just as spectacularly somewhere else...

about this movie that I thought was kinda mediocre & overrated back when

well taste never was your strong suit miss l. Stick to kitsch, down there in the shallow end of the pool. Or watch Life Lessons about 100 times. And is it just me or is Rosana Arquette the most beautiful creature who ever walked the earth?

If I have hurt Rosanna in any way I apologize. I mean check her out in that black Armani 7 min into the film. Srsly!

14 Life Lessons According to HeMan. Now that's some quality filming. "The right way is the best way." Maybe it's not Scorsese or Allen, but they didn't have a jet car and a big cat and lasers and stuff. And lasers.
