Those cookies look pretty weak. Can I get some roast mutt instead?

Pretty soon you'll be able to do this sort of thing in the middle of the Arctic Ocean.

It says that woman bakes cookies in her care "all the time". It's got to take forever at that temperature--why not take a couple hours and build yourself a solar oven?

Talk abut fiddling while Rome burns.

If "fiddling"="whining about global warming"

and

If "Rome burns"="Islamic terrorists trying to kill us and socialist politicians trying to increase taxes in order to destroy individualism and the free market"

then, yes, we are fiddling while Rome burns.

Toll Road cookies. What next? AutoBuns?

tadellin, are you being sarcastic? Because only a fool would equate whining with baking delicious cookies.

I wondered if I had to sell my car. Definitely not. But I have to remember this until next summer.

tadellin, you're not supposed to stay in the car while the cookies bake--it will give you heat stroke and make you spout nonsense.

tadellin, shhhhhh! keep your paranoid nonsense to yourself.

Dear Baking Bites,

Your curiosity was "piqued", not "peaked".

Sincerely,

The joy of cookies hot out of the car is diminished by the thought of flies crawling all over them and having to wait 2 1/2 hours to get to them. Oven wins.

I was all set to try this, since I'm always complaining about how much my vehicle interior heats up. But then I got to this bit:

"Rules for baking cookies in a car:
It must be
at least 95F outside, preferably warmer."

So not exactly practical without driving a few hours out to the desert, is it?

Very practical for me. I could park just outside my San Fernando Valley office door most days between July and September.

This looks like a good way to give a lot of people food poisoning. You do NOT want to have a slab of egg, milk, and sugar goo sitting in a car that is around 95-130 degrees for several hours. Buy the commercial log of germ free cookie goo if you're going to try this. Failiure to bring the car up to a solid bacteria killing temp = worst gut rotting feeling of your life.

My car often gets up to 120°F and I'm at ~44°N. Down in Arizona or SoCal I'm sure they get to a solid bacteria killing temp.

In any case, it wouldn't give "a lot of people" food poisoning. Who shares their fresh-baked cookies?!

Nice people?

One neat technique for aging and mellowing pipe tobacco is stoving -- basically, cooking tobacco for long duration with low heat. The nice thing about a long, hot summer is that a gallon zip-close bag full of five pounds of tobacco "auto stoves" really nicely on the rear deck of my Nissan.

When global warming gets me down, which it does quite often, I try to envision ways that I can contribute to the solution. The easiest for me is to write in my blog, and comment on other blogs. Trying to spread the good green word . . .

I know that raw eggs in cookie batter= bad, and you don't want people getting sick, but of all the times I snitched cookie batter when I was a kid, and the times now that I do it even though I know better, I can't remember even once getting sick.

So baking the cookies in the car (which I could easily do, my car is at 92 degrees when it comes out of the garage, for heaven's sake) is not nearly as enticing to me as just plain eating the cookie dough.
