Cute idea, but the execution is kinda tacky. Maybe they can add a frosted overlay?

Cool but not something I would like in my home. Reminds me too much of lava lamps, disco balls and the lot.

I saw these at the Maker Fair back in May. They're very cool - I'd really like to make one myself.

Interestingly, my friend's one year old daughter was entranced by the table.

entirely too much cat playing. Besides, it's pretty ugly to look at when the lights aren't lit. Besides, this is more like what we need in the 21st century. Not some Hasbro Lite Brite on steroids.

It's just like one of those coffee tables in Minority Report.

Interesting, but can you imagine a book about these, that actually folded out into its own motion-activated led-enhanced coffee table?

As for actually wanting it in my house right now, not so much. Slightly too 'Pimp My Living Room' for me...

I just saw something similar at the Cooper-Hewitt. Ingo Maurer's version was clear exept for the discretely placed diodes - you couldn't even see the circuitry.

I very much want one.

I totally love this and am currently debating whether I would totally love it if I built one and put it in my living room.

This will go perfect in my tarot parlor.

I'm signed up to get one for our basement space lounge. It will be available with black solder mask, which I think will help its appearance considerably.

Table: Ow! Ow! That's hot!

I made something like this once. Except, instead of lighting up every time one of the motion sensors was activated, it exploded.

The fact that the cat was more interested in the string sums it up for me.

yeah, I wondered about that, brautigan. I think it'd be a lot more fun (for the cat, at least) if the LEDs lit up randomly, then went dark as you "touched" them. Like Whack-a-mole.

I'd like something like that, except an entire dancefloor.

Is my link forwarding to a verizon ad with a mefi domain for anyone else?

middleclasstool: Not for me.

That's fucked up. Went weird for me and cortex both there for a minute, but now it's fine. Carry on.

I'd build one and invite all of my enemies who had ADD over. Then I'd burn the house down.

I'd dig it if the circuit boards were green instead of that ugly-ass beige. I'd want multicolored lights though.

This post has been up what, half a day now? I bet there's already a website out there with someone fucking on top of one of these things.

I thought this FPP was all about the interactions of coffee with other drugs. So I screw up and read it and its about coffee tables.

Can you wear it to an airport?

Thank you, petersn1, for your insightful contribution.

So they've updated the page - the black solder mask is supposed to be the same as in a Boston Mooninite.
