This thread is so gay.

Exactly the sort of content that DS writers aren't seeing a dime of.

Funny, though.

None of the clips work for me. Is that because I'm in Canada?

Video clips don't work for me either. Also Canadian.
Might it be 'cuz we've already dealt with the gay marriage issue, so we don't need the lessons taught by Jon's ridicule of homophobic politicians?

It's because Canadians are gay.

Shame about the non-working clips, but I liked the written commentary. Not having a tv, I had no idea Jon Stewart was so pro-gay rights.

It's nitpicky at best to criticize Stewart or Colbert for the occasional not-quite-so-gay-friendly segment, considering their track record. I don't really appreciate that part of the commentary. They're comedians, everyone deserves to be at the butt end sometimes (wink wink), and they're largely very progressive people.

I might do a FPP linking to all the awesome things us Canadians are not allowed to see on the internet, thanks to the good ol' CRTC. Because you can never watch enough "Corner Gas." It's hilarious! Please watch. No? How about another spin-off from Anne of Green Gables? Keeps 'em glued to the screen!

I'm in New York, and I think literally around the corner from Daily Show Central. Vids aren't working for me, either.

I was pleasantly surprised to realize that this was not a compilation of clips of Jon Stewart "acting gay."

“Not gay, John. Aristocratic. It’s a different culture than ours.”

“And what’s different about it?”

“You know, mainly, how gay it is.”

This contains one of the best moments in Daily Show history: Stephen Colbert completely failing to maintain his cool.

My condolences to any of our Canadian and/or gay readers who aren't able to view the clips (which aren't working especially well for me now, either). It's especially sad because several of the Daily Show people are Canadian and may or may not be gay.

They're not all about gay marriage. I thought this one about a formerly gay certified sexual reorientation coach was the funniest, especially his incredibly convincing demonstration of his heterosexuality.
Cohen then gives what has to be the most blisteringly funny explanation -- with hand gestures -- of why it is that homosexuality "doesn't work."

When he bumps the tips of his two index fingers together to demonstrate the futility of man on man action, Jones looks at him in the most sincere fake perplexity in the history of television, and says, haltingly, "Listen, I'm no expert, but I don’t think that's how they do it."

It's working for me, but I'm in California and working in a Viacom office. INTERNAL PURPOSES ONLY, y'all.

Works for me in Minnesota - even at work. Christ, Colbert and that banana is hilarious.

Not working for me here in Canada either. Funny how they'll let us watch the fucking Tivo ad over and over though.

Word on the street is that ComedyCentral in Canada and whoever owns the dailyshow in the states have agreed to limit the dailyshow videos to US IPs only. Major bummer.

also Canadian, videos didn't work right away.

found an AskMe that dealt with the issue, used a public proxy in the US and am watching the videos now.

Word on the street is wrong, in Sweden the videos work fine. The server has just had some issues.

Here's the "Banana Episode" which is what you're all here to see anyway.

Did he, or did he not, bring up Cheney's daughter, Mary, while interviewing his wife, Lynne?

I remember that being a pretty tense interview (although tactful), but can't remember if he brought that up or not.

But yeah, Stewart loves the gays. He was totally loving his life when he got to host the Oscars in 2006 because Brokeback was nominated and thus free-game for jokes (i.e. the montage of old westerns being particularly homo-erotic).
