Heh, one of the signs being carried past said "Out of Legos" ... if being out of Legos isn't protest-worthy I don't know what is ...

The slow burn version is oddly satisfying, though the graphics certainly could've been done better.

The blank page that the text sucker leaves in its wake is curiously appealing as well.
posted by flapjax at midnite at 3:47 AM on January 27, 2008 [1 favorite]

You have to turn on scripting for the site, and then leave it sit for a minute or two with the Metafilter page open.

It will be very obvious when the demonstration starts, you don't have to look carefully. :)

It was more neato (I would think so, of course) using my own site, 'cause the protesters were carrying signs made from the pictures that I use for category icons, and that was, you know, neato!

Speaking of which, I'm wondering, where does that grainy B&W picture the protesters are carrying come from? Last time I looked there were no images on MeFi, outside of some advertising. That doesn't look like it came from an ad, though.

Might save a Meta thread or two with this.
Nothing personal top of pics page people.

I don't want to sound like a racist here, but silhouettes are such reactionary jerks.

That page logged me out of MeFi. Whiskey tango foxtrot?

The signs are hilarious. Most of them are similar to MarkovFilter, in that they make absolutely no syntactic sense.

Sign, sign.
Everywhere a sign.
Blockin' out the scenery.
Breakin' my mind.
Do this. Don't do that.
Can't you read the sign?

Here's a Virtual Writers Strike for those who want to strike but aren't actually in Hollywood or are too lazy or like me you're both. It's cool if you wait for the images to load in, they change the signs on the fly as they go. At first it's just a bunch of 'skip to's but it gets more interesting. Okay, I'm easily entertained. I have to be. There's a writers strike.

Now I want to go protest something!

I'll stand next to you with my sign saying "cup." We'll fill our mouths with marbles, chant away, and one day be fine ladies in flaah shops.
