I think he thought I was crying over something sad because he turned around and promptly walked away. That's the kind of caring guy he is.

You know, all these image macros remind me of a good friend of mine - let's call him 'Stu'. Stu was a normal guy that I've known since seventh grade. Normal that is, until he became the 'Penis Goes Where?' guy.

PGW is another one of these unexplainable image macro things, but not a terribly well known nor liked one. If you've spent any time on fark, you may have seen one or two of these. They generally feature some random woman making any manner of surprised, interested, excited, scared expression and the words "Penis Goes Where?"

It is unbelievably stupid and frankly, a bit misogynistic.

I saw them, dismissed them as Yet Another Image Macro and went on with my life. Went on, that is, until I started getting them from Stu. Stu started by sending me one with a "HAHAHAHA" message attached. Eh, I didn't think anything of it - some people really like fart jokes and we forgive them for that, right?

Then I got another one. Then another one. He send one and then come over to my desk to talk about "How hilarious it was!!!1!" I humored him for a bit and eventually he caught on and stopped sending them. But he still talked about them every once in a while. If he was drinking, he'd laugh himself sick over some that he had collected.

Did I say collected? Oh, yes. Like this FAIL thing above, Stu had started collecting them. Even worse, he was producing them. Dozens. I was at his place on his computer one day when he showed me the hundreds that he had saved, the dozens that he himself had personally made, and the gigantic pile of pictures waiting to have "Penis Goes Where?" typed over them. He had found others who shared this stupid obsession and they shared all that they could find with each other. Stu became something of a god in the PGW circles as he produced hundreds more of these things. If you've seen a few of these things, chances are that most were either produced directly by Stu or in collaboration with one of his PGW friends.

It actually hurt our friendship. Our friendship, which had survived high school, college, and the working world was damaged by a bunch of fucking image macros. Unfunny, stupid image macros - not even to the level of fucking LOLCATZ. We still talk, but it's not the same. He spends a lot of time doing that now. Well, I'm guessing he does. There's big gaps of conversation that is glossed over when I ask him "Whatcha been up to?" He doesn't really call any more. Other people have reported that he doesn't go out much either. I have no doubt that if I used his computer today, it would contain gigs of PGW. I'm sure he sits at home every night surfing the net for more women to write "Penis Goes Where?" upon.

I don't ask. I don't want to know.

“The reason why housing prices rose so much 2004-2006 was that lending practices have pushed "affordability" past the limits. "Stated income" liar loans to get around DTI guidelines. Negative-amortization to make the first 2-4 years more affordable.”

Not to mention the artificially inflated prices for homes as a result of the loans being so easy to access.

This came up when images got yanked. You just have to DESCRIBE TEH IMAGE.

So, there's this container ship and its, like, totally stackes with containers. Like, STACKED. Pamela Anderson stacked. So it's, like, in dock, not, like, at sea or anything. And - so get this - IT"S TIPPED THE FUCK OVER! The containers are spilling everywhere! It's a total fucking mess! And then, at the bottom of the picture in, like, super-bold lettering, it says "FAIL"! Holy shit is it funny!

FAIL!

Oh, I can't stop laughing here.

Failblog also links to DoingItWrong.com, which has an apparently large library of similarly themed pictures served randomly. The same people also created Have You Seen This Man? which does the same with pictures of men (and occasional boys) looking ugly, silly or stupid. Please be aware that that site is an Equal Opportunity Offender, finding ugliness or stupidity in all ages, races and cultures and among a diverse group of familiar faces (in my first 20 clicks there, it brought up pictures of President Bush, Michael Moore and Weird Al Yankovic). You have been warned.
