Strategic Forecasters broke the story that the U.S. was spying on new Chinese Submarines a week ago. NPR just got the story out yesterday. They publish one free story a day. You have to pay to get the rest, but it's worth reading just for the one free forecast.

An article from Time, interviewing the ex-professor and founder Dr. George Friedman.

It's a a mom and pop spook operation, run from Texas. Only in America.

StratFor used to have a LOT of great stuff online for free.

What I like about them is that they are realpolitik Realists, from my point of view, rather than the narrow-minded, US-centric Cold War Realists who've frequently dominated American foreign policy. They take a long view and are able to show you what the world looks like from, say, Singapore.

I had to do a double-take on reading that TIME article, though. When they talk about bombing masking a failed US-backed coup in Iraq, well, they were writing in 1999.
