Best of the Cool

Joe Jenett has been on the web for a long time. His sites have been referred to on MeFi, but jenett webthings has never been featured.

On Coolstop, Joe has been finding and reviewing sites nearly every day since 1997. Joe has long been a creator of participatory web projects as evidenced by Colorspeak and Ageless. He also plays a pretty mean guitar and gets around with his camera. In more than a decade on the web, Joe has left a wealth of content. Please explore jenett webthings.

He's also a king-sized dick.

I had a run-in with him a long time ago when I was new to the web and didn't know all the little protocols. Instead of being a nice guy and explaining how I screwed up, he was a total ass.

People that full of themselves shouldn't be allowed to play with technology.

You want to put half of the tech industry out of a job?!

Zing! Hehehe ... nah, I was just venting.

These internet websites. They are so 1.0.

I've been struggling for something positive to say but this just seems like a rather run-of-the-mill collection of mediocre late-90s/early-00s webstuff to me -- nothing to write home to MeFi about. I'm curious about what might have spurred this post.

Looks like a good post for metatalk, not the blue.

This was the first person to ever link to me. Gave me a huge boost of confidence at the time.

My technician fixed his laptop once. Joe came in to pick it up. I asked him at the time if we could talk about some of the technology he was using, and I asked him if I could refer clients his way. And the answer was "No. And never call me. Never link to me. Never discuss me with anyone else. Goodbye".

That was last year. So I too think he's an asshole with dated ideas and shitty social skills.

A working meaure of "Internet Fame" then might be the time it takes for someone to claim you're an asshole after one of your sites is posted to Metafilter.

...except I'd never heard of him until he showed up with a laptop that needed fixing. Nah, he was an asshole without fame, it's just a fluke he showed up here. I don't think this is a good FPP either, because frankly, his work is dated and kind of sucky.
