Remember Cy? Well, meet the world's first pigmonk. Or would that be monklet?

Apparently the piglet is drinking milk and not in bad health. "The piglet looks just like a monkey, with two thin lips, a small nose and two big eyes. Its rear legs are also much longer than its forelegs, causing it to jump instead of walk."

Other deformed animals to gawk at. As long as we're on the topic.

I think they should name it Tripitaka.

I'm kind of disgusted at myself when I consider the amount of money I'd be willing to pay for a two-headed turtle.

I was really hoping this was a pig that had been trained to "pray" like the chihuahua in Japan and not another damned picture of that freaky cyclops pig.

This pig isn't a cyclops tho. It has 2 eyes. 2 FREAKY ASS ALBINO-ESQUE EYES that will EAT YOUR SOUL.

He looks vaguely like a Disney character.

aw. I was kinda hoping for an orange robed piggy, gently blessing his surroundings. Buddhists would worship it, Muslims would agree not to eat it, and Christians would agree that it looks delicious and Babe-like.

So I'm saying I thought we had world peace, is all.

Nudar: I think they should name it Tripitaka.

I think they should name it Pigsy and make it serve Tripitaka.
posted by No-sword at 2:59 AM on July 27, 2008

Well my thinking was Tripitaka was always having to stop Pigsy and Monkey from fighting; he balanced those two out. Thus this little guy is kind of a balance between and pig and monkey, hence Tripitaka.

OK that made no sense.

And let us all avoid any mention of a certain celebrity, belonging to a certain freakcult, with certain bullshitty legal proclivities this time around, folks.

Remember kids, only you -- and high-priced Hollywood lawyers -- can prevent holoprosencephaly gossip.

We know that embryonic development can be affected by a relatively small number of genes. We've long known, for example, that various dog breeds are genetically indistinguishable, but display huge variations in appearance. So in theory, it should only take a minor mutation in the wrong gene to get an extreme phenotype.

But even knowing that, it's amazing to see how similar nature can make a pig look like a primate after just a single gestation.

Weird, kinda creepy, but thanks for posting this.

Yeah, chalk me up as another who thought this pig was going to be taking a vow of silence.

At least now I won't have to worry about him being baconized in a terrible tonsure-cutting "accident".
