Wait, are you self-pimping, or self-slutting?

Exactly how many posts are we going to see this year that are the next AYB or Mahir or whatever?

(non-pornographic link)

That is good, as it is victims of pornography-porn month.

I'm still wondering about the cultural penetration of AYB... Anyone got any examples of outside-the-loop people making reference to it? Fathers, Doctors, Pat Sajak?

Yeah, my doctor the other day was like, "All of your bases belong to us. Hahahaha!" the stupid, un-hip, wannabe loser.

No, not really.

own: there's been an unconfirmed report of a pro George Bush bumper sticker with that phrase on it.

but as i said, it's unconfirmed.

outside of that, there WAS that foxtrot comic strip...

I'd like to know, Dirjy, just how one stumbles on a sight like "farting fetishes," hmm?

All your base is a www joke. It hasn't gotten (and will not get) to the point of "whoomp! there it is" or some other common phrase.

I once wrote out how (non-www) pop phrases progress - it was about 15 steps long, and something like this:

1. NYC
2. Other major cities
then, eventually
5. High schools
then after a while
8. Letterman
9. Leno
then after a long enough time
13. Your parents
14. T-Shirts on retired people

Or something like that.

If fratboys are "examples of outside-the-loop people" then I've heard reference. A couple of them were going on and on about the "coolest thing ever" the other day in the library. The guy who was explaining it wasn't exactly getting it all correct. It was sort of like an AYB game of Telephone gone horribly wrong.

Um. People. Can someone just put up MetaAYB. or, and just be done with it? In fact, why not .AYB as a new domain suffix?

Owen -
There was a blurb in the Philadelphia City Paper a few weeks back which pretty much said:

"SEPTA announces plans to increase transportation fares. Ads feature GM Jack Leary as cyborg saying "all your base fare are belong to us."'

I saw this in print first, and almost fell off the subway platform laughing.

I wish I had a better story behind it, but I don't. A friend sent the link to me this morning. We both have an affinity for Japanese culture, and often send each other the oddest bits we stumble across.

Now that you mention it, though, HE has a lot of explaining to do...

That's right. The real legacy of AYB is people searching for another AYB.

(Hopefully that too will die off soon)

There's some great Japanese English in there. Maybe you're missing something....

Yes, people declaring something as "the next AYB" are invariably wrong. That's because the next AYB has already happened.

Exactly! That's why I tagged this one 'the NEXT next all your base'... which is totally different, riiiiight???

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to search for the next 'All Your Mahir.'
