A car ahead of me today had a magnetic support ribbon; the text read, "Some asshole stole my support ribbon."

I hate this.

This is one of the least funny, most labored jokes I have ever seen. And I used to host an open mike comedy night, so you know I've seen some pretty titanic unfunny.

I don't think it's a joke. Joke-y, sure.
Approximately one in 17 persons in this country will develop colorectal cancer at some point in life. About half of those people will lose their life because of it. However, simple routine screenings can drastically improve your chances to beat colon cancer. We hope this poopaganda™ will help remind people of the importance of their bowel movement. Our ability to live a cancer free life depends on our poops, won't you support them?

50¢ of each $5.00 magnet sale will be donated to The Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation* (preventcancer.org) to aid in colon cancer research and awareness.

This post bowelled me over. I colon the mods to ignore those who are just too anal to see the humor. Some people should just learn to turd the other cheek.

I don't know whether to feel more ashamed or angry with myself (for not acting on it) for thinking of this "campaign" seven years ago.

I'll settle for burning shame, I guess.
posted by bonobo at 12:40 PM on September 11, 2008

This is really, really coarse, but I tentatively support it inasmuch as it seems to be taking the piss from "support" magnets.

Whether it's a joke or not, I can't help but feel that putting a 9/11-style ribbon that appears to be made of crap on my car will guarantee that I am shot.
posted by koeselitz at 3:00 PM on September 11, 2008 [4 favorites]

One of my friends made a joke about making something like this about five years ago. He never went through with it, because a) it was clearly much funnier as a hypothetical over beers than it is manifest and b) "HA! That's horrible. you guys would get shot." "We live in Texas - we'd probably get shot."
posted by louche mustachio at 3:03 PM on September 11, 2008

I don't even like this at all on any level, and I personally think poop is hilarious.

I went(briefly) to a military institution where the gunnery sergeant would have us all poop in front of a ditch and these were expected to stand and attention and were graded by the obvious criteria. Four days before our first tour, they came to take him away for Psych Evaluation. Never saw him again. Word was he was shit scared to go back into combatvbecause of what happened to his buddy.
