KazooKeylele. Europe's "The Final Countdown" played on a combination kazoo, baby keyboard, and ukulele. Single link YouTube awesomeness. (Via)

He's really trying, and it is entertaining. But this guy has talent.

please enough with the 80s nostalgia overdrive. i know i'll one day be dying in a rest home and still be able to remember this song and the names of all the transformers, but be unable to remember the names of my loved ones. is this not punishment enough? oh, and fuck ukuleles.

For comparison, this hugely over-produced video original. Which do you prefer?

Yeah, enough with the 80s...
it's time to go BACK TO THE FUTURE!

I started laughing hysterically when he started in on the kazoo.

Also, that's pretty cool that Sony BMG is posting 80's videos to their YouTube account.

the orginal video is masterful. the visual metaphor of an A/V production of a hair band video as a build up to an exchange of nuclear weapons ending in the destruction of mankind is so crass it should be lauded. it's like they're saying 'our band is the end of the world.'

If Gob Bluth and Dwight Schrute had a child, it would be this video.

please enough with the 80s nostalgia overdrive.

Don't worry, it goes in 20-year cycles. Soon we'll be inundated with crappy 90s nostalgia.

You know, some of us didn't live out our dreams with kazoos in the 80's. Let us rock out vicariously through the destinies of others.

Shit, I came to fish out that Project Runway linkage for my Uncle Mark, but now... /sigh

Sad and true story.
I saw Europe open for Def Leppard (yes I admit it..but i was 14) and they played The Final Countdown in their 30 min set..not once...not twice...BUT 3 TIMES.

That was fun, and the pianulele is a fine little instrument.

Since I'm in Edinburgh tomorrow anyway, I'll have to check out his busking gig. I wonder if a hit YouTube video will translate into big crowds.

That's already happened - look at bands like Klaxons, or TV shows like Beautiful People. Prepare for 2000s nostalgia in 2010.

Edguy introduced Vain Glory Opera last night by saying "Now we'd like to play a song we stole from a band called Europe..."

I only wish I could be in Edinburgh tommorow to see this live.

I can't begin to describe how much I despise this song. I have a part time job doing set-up and tear-down for pro bicycle races around the country. The promoter I work for always hires the same PA guy, who plays this at max volume when the riders are staged on the start line. On a week-long tour of PA I had the pleasure of hearing it every morning. Can't use earplugs because we have to listen for the radio and/or cell phone.
